I have a 2000 chevy cavalier. the dim lights work fine. when i flip the switch for brights...nothing. ive tried everything i know to,maybe someone here can help me out.

Problem should be the high beam headlight relay.
That should be found under the hood, in a black plastic box, and the box should have writing inside it to identify which relay is the high beam headlight relay.
Of course, there is a small chance it is the multi-switch on the steering column that you click for high beams.
God bless your efforts.

When switch headlamps from brite to dim they go out also drive light wont come on

First I would suspect the dimmer switch on the steering column or wiring in the column. Second I would suspect a bad ground wire or ground connection. Here is link to a forum where others are having lighting problems with daylight running lights. The whole DRL system is rather a complicated maze of relays and connections, any of which could cause your problem. The tip on the forum to get a wiring diagram form Autozone looks like a good deal.

Dash lights keep dimming

Most likely the dimmer switch. Loose connections from the harness connector to the switch can melt the connectors which would cause a poor connection and be the source of the flicker. You may be looking at a combination switch and wiring problem.

Bright Light Do Not Stay On - Chevy Impala 2003

is expensive
most light switches only need the column covers removed to get to the light switch

the problem is the light switch so get an accredited service shop to give a quote
switch can be obtained from a wreckers/ junk yard for little money and the rest is labour charges probably 1 hour

Bright lights turn on when making right turns

The solution is to replace (or possibly repair) the turn signal/dimmer switch.
The switch has three contacts and a slide which control the bright lights and is filled with dielectric grease. When the temperature goes down the grease gets a little thicker and the slide won't work very well.
The switch has two screws and one plug and can be accessed after removing the top steering column cover.

I have a 91 buick park ave. and my lights won't come on.first my dims would not work for several weeks now the dims and brights won't work

Hi, sounds like your hi-lo switch has broken. The switch is mounted to the steering column and is actuated by a rod that runs down the column from the wand. The switch is held on by 5 small screws. I have pasted a picture of the switch below.

Lights will not turn off, brights blue lite on all the time, lites will dim but bright lite stays on, must disconnect bat when car not in use

Your turn signal/headlight multifunction switch has failed.

To replace it, remove the four screws from the bottom of the steering column cover, split the cover apart.
Unplug the one connector out of the bottom of the headlight switch, then depress the two levers, on top and bottom of the switch housing, and slide the switch out.
Install in reverse order.

It's the dimmer switch in the column.
