accessed the fuse box in the glovebox, the enclosed diagram does not highlight a fuse relevant to headlights

  • steve Mar 28, 2014

SOURCE: 1996 BMW 328i Low beams, highbeams, radio, not working.

Look under the hood near the firewall on the driver side for the main set.
Look for a black plastic box. I think it has relays also.
You can check the fuses with a multimeter or ohmmeter. Sometime German will look good and be bad.

check fuse and relay, if its good, than you have faulty switch, only work on low but not high beam, to turn high beam on the switch move forward which is fauty or no contact, flashing high beam move toward you which has a good contact and working. it two switch in one unit.

the fact you have high beam and not dipped beam .means it is your switch has failed.

High beam not come on

The switch is broken. You need to replace it. If your high beam do not work. both low beams work, so the bulbs are ok. if a fuse was blowed both high and low would be out. good-day ! if your sure the bulbs are ok, then its in the switch.

I have a 1998 Z3 1.9. The nearside (UK) sidelight does not come on, but the high beam does (same single element bulb). Checked sidelight fuses after replacing bulb... neither seems faulty. Any help as to...

hi.
the side light and the high beam will be different bulbs. they may appear to be the same, but if you look carefully, there is a smaller bulb, normally just below the main bulb. the sidelight will usually be a small 5watt bulb where the main beam bulb will be much larger, and anywhere between 45 and 65 watts. look for the smaller bulb and replace that first..
