Question about 2010 Hummer H3T

1 Answer

I have a 2010 ht3. The immobilizer kicks in randomly only in the winter and so far the 10 minute reset is the only way to unlock the system. Is there any other way other than getting a GM dealer to d

This has happened randomly about 15 times this winter. In the summer months no issues

More specifically I stopped for gas, shut off the engine leaving the door unlocked. After filling up I put the key, the original master key of this vehicle, into the ignition and nothing. The immobilizer had kicked it. After exactly 10 minutes it allowed gas into the engine and started to problem.

The security, antitheft or lock picture/icon is a visual indication that something in the car's antitheft system is failing. In most GM cars and trucks there is a hidden system that most people are unaware even exists. From the moment you put your key in the ignition, there begins a constant line of communication between your key's security chip or transponder, to the ignition's lock cylinder, and then to the car's TDM (Theft Deterrent Module). These 3 parts are in CONSTANT communication. If the key is in the ignition, then these parts are sending signals to each other. The security light illuminates when that signal gets broken, even just for a second. When the signal breaks, the car misinterprets this as an attempt at theft and goes into antitheft mode. The car thinks its being stolen or hotwired because it is not getting that signal from YOUR specific key. This is why the security light turns on and shuts down your vehicle. This link explains it pretty well.

To reset: put the key in the drivers side door and turn to lock, and then unlock. Then on the key remote click lock and unlock. This resets the engine immobilizer system and it should start right up as normal

What weight oil to use in the summer in a 2003 pontiac grand am

heavier oils are fine in warm summer months, 10W30 or 10W40-
all cars ran on these oils summer or winter for years. Newer vehicles are designed for 5W oils and you should use a 5W oil for them in the winter months

2005 subaru outback immobilizer reset? Alarm was set with door being unlocked with key, immobilizer shut off all power. How can this be reset?

This could be a few things. If the security system was enabled and you just unlocked the door with a key and not using the remote, then all you have to do is put the key in the ignition and turn on/off three times. That's it!

Some cars have immobilizer keys. The immobilizer prevents unauthorized keys from starting the car (yours may or may not have it, depending on the exact Outback model).

Look here for the different styles of immobilizer keys:

Alternator/selenoid or electrical problem?

When your car is warm, everything is at its maximum expansion. Sounds like an overheating issue. But again I am not there to inspect and diagnose it. It could be several things. Winter driving keeps your engine way cooler than summer heat
