It could be low on refrigerant but, there are other reasons for the compressor to cycle. If you could put a set of gauges on it there would not be a lot left to chance.

Idle too fast

two things. one try adjusting the idle screw only if this happened over a longer period of time. Second look at the timing. the distributor turning just a 16th of an inch will make it idle fast.

Sounds like your fuel pump is failing' Turn key on and listen for fuel pump buzzing noise, should cycle for 5 to 10 seconds if you don't hear noise pump is gone.
Check to make sure fuel pump relay is good.

the a/c when running creates a lot of extra heat and needs second fan, if second fan is not working right this will cause overheating, if fan is creating a load noise it is likely bearing is bad and will not spin as fast as it should not cooling. also check that fan it not hitting anything if you describe loud noise i can give better idea

if the vehicle was in an accident the vehicle needs to be checked for proper alignment, secondly being a car so old chances are that the fluid is very dirty and the sensor is not working properly i would change the sensor on the pump and change the fluid also.
