Mercury sable gear shiftier jammed in park

Found this for a '93
Check that the brake lights work. The neutral park solenoid needs to see an input from the brake light switch before it allows the transmission to be taken out of park. If the brake lights don't work check the switch and fuses. If not the solenoid that allows the shift linkage out of park may have failed. Nearly every car has a mechanical override to allow the transmission to be shifted out of Park.

And this for a 2002
More than likely the BOO (brake on/off) switch located on the brake pedal, or it's connector is the problem. Check to see if the brake lights are working. If not, you can disconnect the BOO switch and jump the wires together. If the brake lights come on then, it should shift out of park.

So your's should be the same.

85 tercel parking brake light stays on

I am assuming you mean the red light on the dash that says "brakes".
That light is powered by the parking brake switch and the pressure switch for the hydraulic brakes. If the parking brake is on, or the brake fluid is low, the light comes on.

Parking break switch harness location

Unless it has been removed by somebody, it should be located at the parking brake switch. The parking brake switch is located under the center console at the base of the parking brake lever.

Parking brake warning always on

Loose park brake lever. Faulty switch. If the e-brake is on the left side floor, pull up on it and if light goes out it is loose e-brake lever. Other than that it may be faulty switch.

Brake problem light on in dash after i used parking brake

It sounds like either you did not get the parking brake handle all the way down or the switch is stuck. If the switch sticks, sometimes it will release if you hold the button in and move the parking brake handle up and down rapidly a couple of times. If this does not work, then you will need to disassemble the center console to get to the switch and repair it.
The parking brake indicator switch is located at the base of the parking brake lever mechanism on the right side.

I had no problems with shifting my car into gear, but I went to it a couple days ago and would not move from Park. I tried the override to see if it would move but it still wouldn't work. Any suggestions.

The problem is in the brake switch. You have to have the brake pressed to get it out of park. When this switch goes bad then it doesn't think that the brake is being pressed. You will have to replace the switch. It is located on the top of the brake pedal up under the dash.

BRAKE LIGHT CAME ON TRAVELING DOWN THE ROAD. CAR WAS PARKED AT WORK. NOW WE CAN'T GET IT OUT OF PARK

CHECK BRAKE LIGHT SWITCH ON BRAKE PEDAL TO SEE IF SWITCH OR BRACKET CAME A LOOSE.IF NOT REPLACE BRAKE LIGHT SWITCH THEN REPLACE BRAKE LIGHT SWITCH FUSE.THE BRAKE LIGHT SWITCH COULD HAVE SHORTED OUT PLUS BLOWN FUSE IN WHICH WILL CAUSE YOU NOT TO GET CAR OUT OF PARK.

Head lights burn some time only after you press and release the park brake repeatatly whats worng

Well the headlights do not come on if the parking brake is still on. So maybe in your described case you are having a problem with the switch at the park brake. The switch is probably sticking in the "park brake applied" position. If you look at the switches at the parking brake and can spray some penetrant on them this may free them up.

had P0753 code worked on by 2 different repair shops and still no resolution, HELP?! Have a 2007 Mazda 3 with 104,000 miles, 95% of it all highway been running great till now. Felt engine slip recently and engine light came on with code of PO753 - shift solenoid A malfunction. Brought to Mazda dealership wanted $2200 low to $3300 to replace my valve body assembly. So got 2nd opinion from local transmission specialist, changed the Shift Valve Solenoid, first time drove it for a day engine light came back on with AT light on as well. Brought it back he replace same solenoid thought maybe first was not good. Drove it for a day, engine light back on. Took it to Aamco they basically said it was electrical, not valve body assembly. They replaced some wiring in car, said it was fixed. Ran good for about 3 days, then engine light and AT light when engine slipped slight one more time. Took if back to Aamco today, diagnostics coming back clear, said maybe need to replace ECM at some point down the road but seems to be running fine. Feel screwed since engine light is still on, they tell me I'm fine driving on it. Said replacing the ECM was expensive and car appears to be running fine since diagnostics came back clear. Both places said dealership assessment with valve body replacement was not going to solve the issue, but issue not solved, any suggestions or thoughts? very confused what to do now paid out about $850 for both places so far. First guy gonna reimburse the solenoid part and some of the labor. No reimbursement yet from Aaamco said i can drive it with engine light on seems okay.
