Is it normal for both front and rear struts and bushes to fail on an FG 2011 model with 44,000 kms? I'm the second owner and have never thrashed the car. The previous owners were elderly country folk

Struts are relatively expensive to replace. they are not for the average DIY. Go get second opinion and then third. Get prices. Do not tell second and third shop that you have taken it to other shop. I don't know how old the vehicle is so I don't know the value. If you sell it the buyer may want the struts replaced or deduct price from car. Your call. Struts, tires., battery, belts, filters, light bulbs, wiper blades wear out need replacing.

Driver's side front brake became suddenly stuck ( and mildly smoking) on my 1991 ford aerostar xl that has been excellently maintained. The 'Rear Anti-Lock' brake light came on yesterday and stayed on, and...

yes baby it to him and replace both calipers and rotors as they will work better with your new brake pads. Do Not Do a half a job when it comes to brakes. its your family you are dealing with. calipers are cheap rotors are cheaper and pads are also cheap. its 3 hours labour to do a complete front brake job and rear brakes take 2 hours. with new shoes turn drums replace wheel cylinders and new rear brake hardware price in Canadian for front brakes under 400 price for rear under 250 American parts prices slightly different but labour times the same

Price for front and back rotors and pads for my GMC Envoy. Can I do by myself ? 4 wheel drive SLE model. are these Canadian prices

You can buy and install these yourself, very easy job. Any automotive retailer will have all in stock.

Depending on the grades you buy, pricing can vary greatly.

OEM replacements for rotors are about $39 a piece. (Can probably find cheaper online)
OEM replacements for the pads are about $20 an axle.

Pricing can go up a lot if you decide to get drilled and slotted rotors, or high end pads.

Pricing is in US dollars.

A warning symbol keeps on showing on my BMW 318i 2002 model. It's like a seat with a balloon in front. I assume it's the front airbag, but what's the problem and how can I fix it?

You need to get hold of a tool to read your supplemental restraint system (SRS) codes. Fortunately, for 2002 models, tools are commercially available for a fairly reasonable price, or you can visit a shop that works on BMWs and have them check it.
Often times, airbag codes result from someone abusing a seat belt buckle or from something heavy bouncing on the passenger seat, confusing the occupant sensor. If you just reset the light (which the code reader will do) it often will not recur. If the light comes right back, you have a problem and you need to get it fixed. If the light is lit, they air bags may fail to deploy in an accident, or they may all deploy in an accident (which would total the car and be really hard on your eardrums) The code should give a clue as to where the problem is.

BMW 5 series - 2005 model - resetting service & waring lights

the brake pad warning light is controlled by a sensor located in the front and rear brake pads, small contact with 2 wires that plud into a harness, if they are bad I think the replacement cost is around 5-10 dollars for a new one, there will only be one in the front and one in the rear, the service light is turned out by a special tool at the dealer

High Mileage.... No Timing belt change!....

If you buy this car, you should change the timing belt asap. Check Edmonds, and other internet sites for average prices, (197k miles brings the price down for sure, internet sites should give an amount to deduct for the miles) average for this year is around 70k). The fog light and small dent aren't big issues, but deduct the cost of timing belt change from prices you get on the internet. Good Luck coountrycurt0
