Question about 2003 Ford Escape
Need a scamatic to see how these motors are supposed to work.push switch and can hear a humming noise but nothing moves. This is a used car just purchased and looking under the seat I see that the 4 drive cables are disconectted but also these drive cables do not turn when switch is engaged.
The main gear drive on the system is most likely broken and that why the cables are disconnected could be a costly repair,or you could look for a local car breaker,adrian,.....

I have recently had this problem with a customer. It seems the 4x4 low will only engage in neutral with the brake applied. And also check fuse. Then select drive and you will feel it lock in. Don't "goose" the fuel when attempting this.

Cross the wires...from the switch to the motors...since the switch works one way, but not the other. Instead if cutting cable/wire, try a jumper (another wire) and cross the connection at the plug to the switch. I have same problem...I reversed switch as mentioned above, to move seat back.

Have the same issue with mine. My solution was to take the seat out, real easy. And clean the entire motorized system with some MAF/electronic cleaner. From time to time I still have to play with knob a couple of times. My issue is the knob not motor. Not sure what the noise is. This could be the motor. Ensure you don't have any unknown obstructions blocking the motion.

Check the voltage from the cpu,if there is none, replace the cpu again.Hold seat to foward for 12 seconds then release, wait 20 seconds, see if it will reset. If not replace the cpu
