Question about 1991 Honda Accord
When this happens i can feel the car change gears. sometimes it blinks... what does this mean?
On the bright side, the fact the "S" indicator light came on indicates it is an electrical problem rather than a mechanical one. When the A/T control unit senses an abnormality in the input or output systems, the "S" indicator light in the gauge assembly will blink. However, when the Service Check Connector, located to the lower right of the glove compartment, is connected with a jumper wire, the "S" indicator light will blink the problem code when the ignition switch is turned on.

I'm not sure I completly understand your description of the issue so I don't know if this will be helpful or not. I'm not a mechanic like junit80 is but I did own a '91 Accord EX once. The Automatic Transmission Shifter has two buttons, both controlled by your right thumb. The a tiny button on the bottom stands for "Sports" mode. When depressed, the "S" light on the dash illuminates and the transmission does a fancy schmancy super sporty overdrive kind of gear change. So, if you weren't sure what the whole "S" thing is about, then maybe I've helped in some small way but if it's truly blinking, then it's a good thing you don't have to depend on me for the answers.
