Question about 1993 Geo Prizm
I've had a clunking noise going on for a little bit in my car...I had called a couple places to get it looked at and hadn't made it in yet. I was driving down the highway, slowed and stopped to turn off (rural highway!) and when I hit the gas....a harsh, knarly grinding sound and no acceleration! In the middle of a highway....It makes the grinding sound when I'm in any of the moving gears, not while in neutral. When I put it in park it will grind/rattle/buzz for a minute, then in quits and idles nicely.
I think my tranny crapped out. Any suggestions?
Had the exact same thing in my 93 and it was the CV Axles - they have a C clip that hold them in place - sometimes the C clip and fail; sometimes you simply have to replace the CV Axles - much cheaper then a tranny; a good suspension shop should be able to diagnos w/o it costing you an arm and a leg.

Yes - replace the transmission unit.
