WELL, RIGHT ABOVE THE BATTERY IS A SQUARE BOX WITH A BUNCH OF WIRES, OPEN THE FOX AND YOU WILL FIND THESE 80 OR 100 AMPS FUSE LINKS, REPLACE THE BROKEN ONE, DONE.

Alternator may be bad, or you have a power draw somewhere. best to take to a shop and have this diagnosed... could get very intensive with labor if it is a draw problem, but an alternator is very easy to diagnose if you have a volt meter. the alternator needs to be charging at 13.8V or better

SOURCE: 1989 vw jetta wont crank. replaced battery still wont start.

Ive got a Jetta 2 CSI and had the same trouble. I then discovered that my coldstart packed up, wich you cant even get at the agents anymore. So If you are in the Benoni area I can fix it for you for 'n reasonable price, and you won't have that trouble any longer. Mine is still starting by just touching the key. 0829484343

You need to charge your battery up more. Either get a battery charger or leave the jumper cables hooked up for a longer period of time.
Your battery was probably completely dead. You might even need a new battery...they really don't like to be completely drained.

2001 ranger main power fuse locations

ENGINE AND STARTER DEAD.
HEAD LAMPS DEAD, KEY ON AND OFF?
well , the man fuse box has Huge fuses as inputs (60 to 100amps or more) called mains that feed the dinky fuses..
the service manual covers every inch of wiring and a voltmeter shows where it dies for sure. 4 engines 2.2L to 4.0
READING ALL 4 SCHEMATICS IS NO FUN.

no engine told and fuses boxes vary by , engines there.
HOOD BOX BJB.
LEFT SIDE, AWAY FROM RELAY SIDE
SEE ALL THOSE FUSES THERE?
F 1.24 RUNS HEAD LAMPS BOTH SIDES HOT ALL THE TIME
MOST OTHERS HOT ONLY KEYON
SO HEAD LAMPS ARE FIRST, AND NOT TOLD YET

IF ALL FUSE ARE DEAD IN BJB, KEY ON AND OFF
THAT MEANS BATTERY CABLES BAD (4 ENDS BAD)
IF HEAD LAMPS ARE DEAD FIX THIS FIRST, THEY WORK KEYS IN POCKETS

2001 Jetta TDI Battery drain??

If you suspect the alternator, disconnect the 12V line coming directly from the battery and check for current drain. Are you sure the current unit is in ampere (A) and not milliampere (mA)? A 5A current will drain your battery in about an hour. A 5mA current is just about normal considering the parasitic load (radio memory chip, clock, ECM memory circuit, etc.). Try checking your battery. It could be the real culprit.

Problems starting turnig but not turning over

this may help diagnose your problem. with headlights on,try to start truck.do headlights dim? if so,check battery for bad.try boosting your truck from another car. check battery terminals for clean and tight. this is a must!!! if battery is good,,,,lights ,,headlights on and turning the keyswitch to start and no dim in the headlights when you turn the switch to start, bad connection to battery,or bad starter,or blown fuseable link in wiring to the starter, check for blown fuses to main,starter,e.c.m. under the hood in main fuse box. also check for a bad fuel pump relay in the main fuse box under the hood.

I have a problem with my Jetta. I recently bought a new battery and it is continually being drained after just a day of sitting. The amp meter shows that there is 0.5 amps from the battery when the car...

Normal "ignition-off draw" is usually around 0.1 amps. Anything over 0.3 amps is definately a battery killer. You can locate the main circuit where the problem is by removing fuses one at a time until the draw drops down to an acceptable level. When checking the fuses inside the car, you may have to close your door latch with a screwdriver to turn off the dome lamps while you work.
Once the main circuit has been identified, you pinpoint the problem by getting a power distribution diagram and unplugging everything that is powered by that fuse. Sometimes this can get very time-consuming because some major disassembly may be required to "unplug" certain components.

if you keept trying to start it with no luck it could be possible you have flooded the cylinder. get a can of starter fluid and spray it in your intake(air filter box) and try to turn it over. if it trys to start you should drain all fule. add new fule with a can of octain boost. if car does not start pull spark plugs and try to drain cylinder
