My 1998 Mitzubishi Lancer 1.5lt has a loss of power mainly going up hills, I have replaced to spark plugs and the HT leads seam to be ok,Could it be the coil?or can someone suggest other probabilitys.

I have noticed a loss of power mainly when travelling up hills I have replaced the spark plugs and checked the HT leads....It seems to respond with it gets into the higher rev range (over 3000 RPM) could it be the coil or perhaps something else your suggestions will be most helpful

First thing I would check is that all of the plugs are still tight. This is a common problem of them coming loose without the proper torque.

The 1.5L was never a power house, but the first checks should be
* check if the ECU is throwing an error code. If so this is a vital clue.
* verify the cam belt alignment. This can slip a few teeth and cause all sorts of problems
* verify the timing (assuming your 98 has a distributor or cam position sensor adjustment)
* Pull the injectors and soak them in injector cleaner.
* clean or replace the air filter.
* Check the coolant temp sensor (on the thermostat housing) does not have damaged wires. This sensor is vital for the ECU to decide what timing and mixture is needed.

I have a 1998 durango, I have no spark from disturbtor but have spark from coil

Replace the distributor cap and rotor. If you have fire from the coil but not from the distributor cap, you have a bad contact point between the cap and rotor. Replace both and you should be good to go,, if the information that you have supplied is correct.

1997 excl is missing at low idel remove lead number one and it stayed the same but ok driving in top gear

This is what we call in the trade a tracking problem ( when the spark jumps prematurely to earth rather than across the spark plug electrodes ) The problem is caused by deteriorating spark plugs or poor insulation on the HT leads . If you replace your HT leads and spark plugs your problem will be cured .

My car wants to turn off when not accelerated...

Loss of power on inclines means a BAD EGR. They're cheap, don't clean it, the diaphragm is BAD. Replace the EGR valve and you're good to go friend.First indication of a faulty EGR is loss of power on an incline/hill.
