Question about Honda Prelude
Starts up and the idol bounces around until it warms up. after its warmed up or even cold it will not exceed passed 3500 rpms. tried replacing the whole distributor and the coils still the problem is there. this is only because I did a engine swap in my 93 prelude si. it had the H23a1 motor in it to begin with and swapped it for the same one but its an H23a not a1. so idk if that makes a difference with anything. have yet to switch the map sensor. the only other thing I can think of is that we changed the injectors and used the ones from the old engine because the gas ran in on the opposite side and would have had to get a longer hose so we just used the old one. this is my daily driver and I need it running well asap if anyone has any advice please give it to me thank you, Logan
This sounds like limp mode which is your car trying to protect itself from damage. Do you have a check engine light? Go to a local autoparts store and have them pull the codes. Solve the codes and try again. Do yourself a favor and dont just buy parts and hope the problem goes away. This is expensive and wont always produce results. If im not wrong the h23a is the vtec model. If so there are differences between the other engine. If you have idle issues it could be the idle air controll, a vacuum leak, an air metering or fuel metering issue.

firstly remove the inlet fuel line at the filter and and blow down line with a compressor ,removing fuel cap first,if this doesnt work then it could be fuel pump pressure of air flow meter ,but iam often wrong with this sort of thing and it turns out to be the radio,all joking aside try blowing out fuelline doesnt work??then take it to dealer for computer check

If you can get a fuel pressure gauge, check and see if the pressure is 16 to 24 lbs after the engine has warmed up.
I would connect the pressure gauge when the engine is cold, make sure it does not leak or touch anything hot, place the gauge between the hood and the windshield and drive the vehicle until it is at the temperature you feel it "starts hard". Shut the engine off and try to repeat the no start or hard start and make sure the pressure is correct.
Also, when you shut the engine off, watch the pressure and make sure it holds and does not drop to (0 LBS) of pressure.
One last question, has the fuel filter been changed in the past 30K.

the idle air control valve may be bad or just needs cleaned out. idle air control valve acts the same as a choke. if it is messing up it will cause engine not to run right.
