Question about 2003 Toyota Sequoia
It only seems to happen when going 25-35mph...hasn't happened at higher speeds. Worried what could be causing it and if it might happen at bigger speeds too.
If it's a 4x4, it could be the CV joints binding.
If you are in 4wd on dry pavement, don't.

Testimonial: "Thanks for the suggestion, it was happening when we were not in 4x4...I have since traded the car in (11 years and 149k) and so far we are enjoying the newer 2014 model Sequoia - not as smooth a ride as the older model and feels more boaty and less like a car. The suspension on the older model was a lot tighter. Everything bout this model is bigger."

Likely your CV joint - this happened on my car on both sides. Sounds like crunching? Best to get it looked at before it explodes when turning like mine did!

Check your service record for the last fuel filter change. 2 years or less is the recommended interval.
Top off you fuel tank to 1/2 or higher. A weak/failing fuel pump will give losing power condition on hill / high altitude / hot day.
Check the injectors and return lines (top of the injector) for leaks.
When was your last valve adjustment?
Head adjustment should be 1-2 years.

Do a major tune-up on the 4Runner....new spark plugs, wires, distributor cap and rotor. The ticking very well could be from using a poor grade of gasoline, however, not necessarily the octane. This is also known as pinging or knocking. The tune-up may help this as well. Try a quality grade of gas, Shell, Exxon, Chevron, Texaco, Mobile etc....
