I think you need another diagnostic done on the vehicle. Or I would have someone check the fuel pump and filter. Fuel filters and clog up and shut a car down.

SOURCE: 1990 Lincoln-Battery drained while turned off sitting

If you are jumpering the starter, then the battery is not being drained, the starter may have a bad solenoid.
If the problem still is a dead short, a painstaking troubleshooting is required.
Remove one fuse at a time, check for voltage drop, and see which one is the culprit. Then you woud have to locate each item on that circuit and trace the wires for one that is broken, or pinched & contacting ground.
Also, check at night or in a dark garage, as trunk, door, or hood pin switches may be stuck in the open position - and will keep the lights on.

Interesting note - your having to jumper the solenoid on the starter indicates a possible worn/damaged ignition tumbler. If your tumbler is not seating on the OFF detent, your ACC may still be left on even with the key out of the ignition.

blinking check engine light means -requires immediate attention the computer found a problem with vehicle that can cause damage if continued to run or drive --some codes will shut down vehicle to a limp mode or the problem can cause shut down ----have code read most auto stores offer this for free the code will give you a start point towards repairing your vehicle

Hi Joe, I'm Al the owner of Big As Auto Repair

Joe, this is a hard one to help you with because without diagnosing what it shutting down the we are basically guessing. I want promise anything but I'll surely give it a try. The biggest problem with a hot dyeing problem and then it restarts OK when cold is that this is most of the time a loose connection or something going bad. If in fact it could be a loose connection it could be anywhere. Here's what happens, when it gets hot the wire if its a wire will pulls apart and lose contact and when it cools down it will retract and make contact again. Here is something to try. Start the engine and tap on the engine controller and see if the engine dyes. If it does then first check all the connectors and wires before condemning the controller. If nothing happens at the controller perform a wiring wiggle test and see if it dyes. If in fact it does dye in a certain area then pull the wires apart in that area and also check the connectors that close to that area. NOW, if nothing happens with the wiring and controller then you could possibly have a fuel pump that's getting hot a shutting down. You'll need to check this with a fuel gauge to see if the fuel is shutting off. For further assistance go to my website. Have an awesome day Joe. Auto Repair

Ignition control module does not control everything electrical. check battery connections at both ends and do some testing to narrow it down a bit...could be a bad ignition switch also but test first!
