The OD light is flashing due to a transmission problem. Have it scanned for fault codes.

SOURCE: Transmission Not Going into Overdrive

First check and make sure the fluid is full. The most likely cause is a failed solenoid pack. Circuit codes normally mean something electrical not mechanical has failed. The solenoid pack is on the outside of trans pretty easy to replace.

SOURCE: transmission codes:

I WOULD TRY REPLACING THE INPUT SPEED SENSOR..A DEFECTIVE SPEED SENSOR CAN CAUSE ALL OF THESE FAULTS..IT IS LOCATED IN FRONT OF TRANS ABOVE SOLENOID PACK..IT IS THE ONE CLOSEST TO THE ENGINE..IT SCREWS INTO TO TRANSMISSION..A 1 INCH SOCKET FITS IT..ALSO CHECK WIRING TO BOTH SPEED SENSORS..A SENSOR IS ABOUT 35 BUCKS,AVAILABLE AT YOUR LOCAL DODGE DEALER..GET A NEW ONE AND YOU'LL SEE WHAT IT LOOKS LIKE..FAIRLY COMMON PROBLEM..HAVE REPLACED LOTS OF THEM

My car is a ford ranger 2.5tdci and have A/T . Got error code P0733. And the o/d off light flashes on and off. why?

code p 733 refers to gear 3 ratio incorrect ===causes ---wiring --- TR sensor / switch---shift solenoids ---transmission mechanical fault
take it to an accredited transmission specialist shop for a proper diagnosis but it is not a mechanical problem requirng a new box , but simple sensor , solenoids or electronics problem

My car is ford ranger 2.5tdci a/t. What is Gear 3 Incorrect Ratio ?

as the gears in an auto transmission are in constant mesh , being sun and planetary gears , it is impossible to have an incorrect ratio as such
however when the TR sensor (transmission ratio sensor) becomes faulty it doesn't know whether to use the bands or clutches and so the transmission is in limbo so to speak
that in turn applies bands or clutches incorrectly
The TR sensor reports to the transmission control module and is dependent on speeds from the VSS sensor that also determines when ratios are changed --ie when bands or clutches are applied
the fix is normally a TR sensor and /or servos / solenoids

P0734 Hyundai accent 2003

code p 0734 refers to gear 4--incorrect ratio===causes --wiring---TR sensor/ switch---shift solenoids---transmission mechanical fault
I would check the operation of the transmission ration sensor/switch first as that is the most likely place that the fault is
check engine lights are not solely for the engine but report on transmission problems as well
a transmission mechanical fault is the absolute last that you should consider because the transmission will revert to normal operations until it selects gear 4 which indicates sensor or solenoid problem

Ford trauras trouble code 732 - was told transmission code 732 was being produced, what does a code 732 say?

P0732 FORD - Incorrect Second Gear Ratio
Transmission in second gear and the ECM detected an incorrect gear ration. This diagnosis monitors actual gear position by checking the torque converter slip ratio calculated by Transmission Control Module (TCM) as follows:

Torque converter slip ratio = A x C/B

A: Output shaft revolution signal from revolution sensor
B: Engine speed signal from Engine Control Module (ECM)
C: Gear ratio determined as gear position which TCM supposes

If the actual gear position is higher than the position (2nd) supposed by TCM, the slip ratio will be more than normal. In case the ratio exceeds the specified value, TCM judges this diagnosis malfunction.

Symptoms
- Engine Light ON (or Service Engine Soon Warning Light)
- Incorrect transmission shifting

Possible causes
- Low transmission fluid level
- Dirty transmission fluid
- Shift solenoids
- Transmission mechanical problems
- Transmission hydraulic control circuit

Tech notes
Start by inspecting the transmission fluid level and condition, and change fluid if necessary.

Hope helps.

Ford Ranger 98'Splash don't shift 3rd and

you will need to connect it ti a scanner to confirm but it sounds like your solenoid (there is a solenoid that controls those gears inside your tranny) the part is actually cheap and should take no time to replace. the cost comes in a way of replacing the tranny fluid that will be lost.

Ring gear

You already know the axle is 4.10 gears. How did you determine that? Are you just wondering how many teeth the ring gear has? There are 3 ways to figure the ratio, 1st the tag, which is missing, 2nd mark the bottom of the tire, and mark the driveshaft, move the car forward and count the driveshaft rotations in one complete tire rotation, this determines the ratio, which in your case would be 4.10 turns of the driveshaft in one wheel rotation. 3rd would be to count the teeth on the ring and pinion, divide to get 4.10, or whatever it comes out to.
