Engine light came on and now it blinks off and on when its on solid car runs good but when it blinks car loses all its power wont hardly run and shakes

you need to hook up a diagnostic code retrieving tool to the aldl [ assembly line diagnostic link ] this is normally located on the drivers side under the instrument panel, it should be about 2 1/2 - 3 inches wide. the tester reteives the trouble codes that your car's computer has stored, you hook the tester up to the link, and turn your ignition key on, and the tester will start picking up the information that is stored in your computer, once it shows the code #s, write them down, and compare the # or #s to the diagnostic booklet that the tester comes with. [ follow the instructions of the tester] if you do not have a tester, your loacl auto part store can do this for you, normally free of charge.

Car dies at stop lights

With out being able to hook it up to a computer to run diagnostics or ir you are able to you need to check the( IAC) idle air control , this valve is motorized and moves in or out to control idle speed . it can fail, or the passage way over time can carbon up also causing a concern. But with this valve you really need the car to be hooked up to a diagnostic computer to monitor the valve operation while running

Where is the computer located on a Dodge B3500 so I can hook up my diagnostic equipment?

There should be a connection point at the fuse box under the hood or under the dashboard to connect Diagnostic computers to. You don't have to actually connect directly to the ECM.

Service engin soon light came on and am looking to find out why. How can I view the diagnostic codes?

You'll need to hook it up to an OBD-II scanner. You can purchase these, but they're pricey, or you can bring it to a garage (most will scan it for free)

The data link gets it's power from the fuse that also powers the cig. lighter,is the cig. lighter working?
If not check fuse no.3 (20amp) in the interior fuse panel.

We have seen on some occasions that some scan tools just will not link up for some reason. We have had several vehicles that customer went to have their state inspections done and the tester at that shop would not link up.We hook our ford diagnostic tester to it and it links right up,we then hook them to our inspection machine(which is not ford equipment) and they link right up to it.

First thing to do from a repair perspective is to hook up a scan tool to the OBD2 port.Go into the real time data stream and see if the vehicle computer is seeing a vehicle speed signal. If the computer is not seeing a speed signal, then it is likely a malfunctioning speed sensor on the transmission, and will have stored trouble codes with numbers and definitions. If the vehicle computer IS seeing a speed signal from the trans, then the speedometer gauge in the dash is malfunctioning.Either way,the vehicle computer has to be accessed with a scan tool,or code reader.Every diagnostic trouble code, has a diagnostic route. The diagnostic route is available through pay sources like All Data online.
