Water In My Trunk

Hi Gregory:
2 issues:
1) water getting in
2)Water not getting out.

1) Water is not supposed to get in so you need to track down the leak. Check rubber around trunk lid, rear window seal.
2) Trunk is not intended to contain water, even on a temporary basis, so drain holes are not normally installed.

Fix the leak and you won't need to have drain holes.

Water leaks into car jack in trunk

is the rubber seal in good condition ? check around rear light clusters ,best to remove them as they will have a seal as well , look for signs of water marking paint , work backwards from where the water is collecting.

Water builds up in jack well of 2008 cadillac srx

You must have a leak, check the seal for the trunk and make sure it is properly installed all of the way around. Also remove both tail lights and make sure there is not damage to the panel behind them. remove the side carpet panels in the trunk and look for signs of water trickling in. I have actually had to remove all of the trim and carpet in the trunk of a car and climb in with a flashlight while someone else sprayed the back of a car at all points and look for a leak. Good luck with it.

Accumulation of water under the spare tire. Cannot find any leaks

Here is the best way to find out where the water is coming in. Get inside the trunk and have someone you trust close the trunk. make sure you do it when it is daylight or a well lit garage. while you are in the trunk with the lid closed you will be able to see light where there is any gap around the trunk seal and that will be where the water is coming in. some times the sides of the trunk opening gets bent down causing the trunk gasket not to seal properly.

I have a 2005 Dodge neon that seems to retain water in trunk area where spare tire is located. why is this?

I can tell you why....because it does this in my stratus!!!!

The trunk lid hinges are letting water into your trunk. All the water pools up in and under the spare, the trunk carpet is wet.....more than likely the driver's side of the trunk....pull that trunk carpet back from where that trunk hinge is mounted to the body, reach under there and feel all the water dripping in!

The fix? Unbolt those hinges and put silicone sealant around those bolts and mounts.....that'll take care of that crummy leak.....DODGES!!!!!

Water in rear window well

There are no drain holes in the trunk. You would have to drill your own, but be careful not to drill into anything. The problem that needs to be addressed is to find the water leak. The easiest thing to do is to put someone in the trunk with a good bright flashlight. While this person is in there take your garden hose and slowly wet down the back of the car ( don't go to fast ). At this time the person can look for water coming in the trunk then you can fix the problem. Could be a gasket or window leak. Just take your time and you'll find the leak. Also try not to do this on a really hot day trunks can be very hot and dangerous at times like that.

can be the rear door seal (check for damage)

or seal around the rear light cluster but that's less likely
