Most likely the throw out bearing.

If you have driven 26,000 without a problem I doubt it's related to the clutch replacement, but I think we need more info here.
Does the car make the noise multiple times during one trip (on and off as you start and stop)?
Can you hear it when you are parked in your driveway? The best thing to do would be to get out of the car when you hear the noise, pop the hood, and try to locate which part of the engine it is coming from. Then we can move on from there.

if this has original clutch this noise is a warning that it's time for a change

when doing this job make sure the clutch /throwout bearing/pressure plate and slave cylinder are all done at same time will save you money in the long run allthought being a bit expensive at first

Clutch pedal staying down but there's plenty of fluid in resiviour

Probably bad clutch master cylinder and/or slave cylinder. I always replace both.

Why would there be a rattle noise when in neutral and grind going into first gear?

Your slave cylinder in your ****** or your master cylinder could be bad. Both are integral parts of your transmission. The master cylinder is a hydralic hose that goes from your clutch peddle down into the bell housing and connects to the slave cylinder which disengages or engages your clutch. I had to replace both of mine because the mount for the slave cylinder broke and my master cylinder was bad. Them master cylinder is located directly behind the firewall in the engine compartment and connects to your clutch via a rod that connects to the top of your clutch peddle. check the fluid level in the master cylinder first and formost to see if you are just simply low on fluid if you are then DOT 3 brake fluid works perfectly fine for it.

My 2001 Subaru Forester is about to undergo it's 3rd clutch transplant. First at 60,000kms, second at 130,000kms. We now have 170,000kms and we appear to be going down the same road. Smell of burning...

On your next clutch replacement make sure you take the flywheel off and get it machined flat, install a new pressure plate and friction disk and replace the throwout bearing also...Don't be cheap and try to get by with just a friction it right and it will work for a long time. and take your foot off the clutch peddle when driving!

Clutch peddle constantly vibrates up and down and smoke is coming from the engine area, also there is a high pitch sqeaking noise. any ideas?

If your clutch is pulsing you are feeling the crankshaft moving back and forth. The noise is related and this noise could ver well be a spun main brg. Serious ckg needs to be done. Drain the engine oil and note any sign of oil burning, being overheated and any bearing Material presence.l

Truck makes loud noise unless clutch is pushed in

chances are the adjustment of the throwout bearing fork is the problem . because of vibration that is the rattling that you are hearing. correct adjustment should be as follows.

#1...peddle travle should be no more than 1 1/2 inches

#2...the clearance between throw out bearing and fork no more than 1/2 inch

#3...clearance between fork and fork stops is 1/8 inch

also there should be grease zerts in the shaft that holds the fork and linkage make sure they are not dry of grease...please rate the solution....thanks
