Wiper motor could be the problem as contacts are track type so can partly operate until turns to a dodgy track

SOURCE: windshield wipers stop whenever and wherever they want to.

This is the park switch in the motor, try prising the top off the motor gently, it will only come off so far as wires will stop you, clean grease away from micro switch then spray with wd40.
if this fails new motor I am afraid

SOURCE: 99 s-type jaguar window wiper mechanism stuck on half cycle

Unplug wire connector at wiper motor and test light with switch on, if power to plug most likely wiper motor shot, if no power to plug than its switch.

SOURCE: jaguar x type washer failure

it is more likely the wiper switch has bad contacts or the washer pump is defective, go to the pump and have someone hold wash and check for a 12 volt sigal at the washer fluid pump, if no siganl replace the wiper/washer switch, and if u do have the signal at the pump then the pump is defective.

SOURCE: wiper problems

It was the wiper motor that chewed your battery because this motor only stops when the wipers are at their normal resting position. Have the car checked on why the wipers jammed..check under bonnet wiper arms.

I have 03 S type. Battery is drained but when I try and jump start, the lights flash, dials go left to right then back and alarm goes off. How can I restart without taking battery out to garage? Hugh D

Hi

Hugh, you would need to charge the battery on the car, do you have a battery charger you could run to the car via an extension cable? also is the other vehicle suitable for jumping this one, a vehicle with a to high ampage on the battery could blow fuses on your jaguar.

When the dials go left to right thats the computer teling everything to recalibrate, factory reset. If the battery is just doing this all the time then it sounds like it i beyond being jumped and can no longer hold charge. You will most likely need a new battery, simle enough to fit yourself if you want to save some money on gargae bills.

2001 JAG S STYLE-WHEN TURNED ON WIPERS STAY ON-WILL GO OFF SOMETIMES WHEN ENGINE IS STOPPED

Check the wiper relay in fuse box, swop it for another - same type and see if it cures the problem. These relays can cause the wipers to not park correctly or stop start during use, I had this on my s type - it drove me mad untill I found it !!
If not the answer - repost for further advice.

good luck - hope this helps.

2001 Jaguar S-type won't start

Check if your transmission really is in park. I once had the same problem and it was fixed by moving the stick in and out of the park stand for a couple of times. Then the red light illuminating the "P" came on and i could start again.

Has to do with the transmission cable that tends to get a bit loose.

Battery needs jump start if car is not driven for 3 days.

u either have a shorted cell in the battery or the system has a current draw like a glove box light being left on, try disconnecting the battery the next time you leave it, if it starts ok then u have a current draw and need to find the source of that draw.
