I obviously havent drove your van, so I cant say this for certain, but if its slipping and it seems to gradualy get worse there is a strong chance your tranny is going out. This is not a uncommon issue on these models. I really hope thats not the case for you, but you should deffinatly have someone with some auto tranny know how look at it.

SOURCE: My 200 Plymouth Neon will no longer start. Just

Good Evening, unfortunately with the neon I have run into this before and it's not always the same in each case. First your lead battery cable ends I have seen go bad more than anything. Second items like your starter and your alternator can be tested at your local autozone or advance auto parts stores at no charge that way it is easier for you instead of replacing both of them you will know for sure which is at fault. Try the batter cable ends first and see if that does it. And if you have any other problems please feel free to ask.

I have a 2000 Plymouth Breeze, Lately when the car is started the battery light stays on but then will go off when you put the car in gear. Is the battery going bad or is it something more serious?

Battery light means, alternator, not bad battery, when light is on, alternator is not charging, any auto parts will do a free elec. check.

Where is the starter located in a 2000 plymouth neon

The starter is located under the car where the transmission and engine meet toward the front of the neon. The starter actually bolts up with face toward the transmission. You must get the car up on ramps or on a hoist to see the starter.

Removal:
  • Disconnect and isolate the battery negative cable.
  • Raise vehicle on hoist.
  • Remove starter bolts.
  • Remove starter assembly.
  • Disengage latch and remove solenoid connector from starter assembly.
  • Remove battery positive connector from starter assembly.
  • It is not necessary to remove the alternator output lead from the connector.
Installation:
  • Clean corrosion/dirt from the cable and wire terminals before installing wiring to the solenoid.
  • Attach battery positive connector to starter.
  • Ensure alternator output connector is snapped into the battery positive connector.
  • Tighten the captive nut to 10 Nm (90 in. lbs.) .
  • CAUTION: It is critical that the alternator output terminal be connected to the battery positive terminal of the starter solenoid, for proper operation of the charging and cranking systems.
  • Install solenoid connector to starter.
  • Ensure that latch is fully engaged.
  • Position the starter face into transmission housing.
  • Start bottom mounting bolt and thread in until bolt is snug.
  • Attach ground cable to upper starter mounting bolt.
  • Ensure the proper starter alignment before tightening the starter mounting bolts to 54 Nm (40 ft. lbs.) torque.
  • Lower vehicle and connect negative battery cable.

My 2000 ford ranger and something draining battery

bad alternator possible or bad battery..even though its new that battery can be bad. I would take a volt meter and with the engine running check the volts of the battery..If the volts are 12 you need to replace alternator, if volts are 14 you need to check the battery. to check the battery hold the volt meter to the battery and have someone start the car..while the starter is cranking battery volts should not drop below 10volts.if they do your battery is bad.
