M power rear windows only lower 1/2 way?

1995 lesabre custom power rear windows only lower about half way. very annoying. is there any way to allow them to more fully lower? not everyone needs child safety features!  there's no mention of this annoying feature in the owners manual of an otherwise nice car i just inherited

thanks, i just "KNEW" there had to be some fix. now one more thing, is the stop on the frame obvious, and is this something i can do myself, assuming i get the door panel off?   i had a buick dealer service guy and a mechanic both say there was no solution, which seemed goofy.

i'll bet this feature got dropped, as many buick owners don't ride with children but adults, and anyway there's the window lockout the driver possesses. (no need to answer this last question, i'm just venting)

    thanks again,

There is no way to make them go lower than that, manufacture makes them like that for child safety just as you said, now you can take it to a body shop they can cut some metals inside and you can customize it to go all the way down, right now there is a stop on the window frame you can take that out in a shop and it will go down more . thank you

Why do the 2 rear windows refuse to go down? Child locks not on. citroen picasso faults

Some cars are designed this way. Either the doors are not wide enough at the bottom to accommodate the size if the window, or they made the opening smaller to make it so a small child could not fall out of the window. Many vehicles have rear windows that only lower half way.

My 1994 suburban rear power windows only go down half way, is there a a way to get them to go all the way down

Did they ever go all the way down? Many vehicles from that era limited the down travel of rear windows as a child and pet safety feature. Also, some vehicles' rear door design would not allow full down travel.

2003 F250 Power Windows won't work

check fuses 35 & 41 (10 amp, red).
it also shows an accesory delay relay in the fuse panel.
And fuse 601? 30 amp.

make sure you don't have lock-out on driver switch panel activated.

Power Window System
Features and Operation
NOTE: The accessory delay feature will allow power window operation up to 10 minutes after the ignition is off or until a door is opened.
If equipped with power windows, the window control switch (14529):
  • will operate the power windows only when the ignition switch is in the RUN or ACC position.
  • is located on each front door trim panel, and Crew Cab and Excursion rear door trim panel.
  • may be used to raise or lower the driver side, passenger side and rear windows from the LF control on the driver side, or the passenger window from the passenger switch.
  • includes a one-touch down (OTD) feature for the driver door window.
  • can partially lower the driver side window when the LF window control switch is depressed half way (first detent).
  • will completely lower the driver side window when the LF window control switch is fully depressed and then released (second detent).
Power Window System — Modes of Operation
There are two modes of operation for the power window system.
Manual Mode
When the LH window control switch is pressed to the first down position, the window will move down until one of the following conditions are met:
  • The LH window control switch is no longer in the first down position.
  • The LH window control switch is pushed to the OTD position, causing the windows to enter auto mode.
Auto Mode
Auto mode provides the OTD feature. The OTD feature is activated when the LH window control switch, for the LH window, is pressed to the second down position.
Auto mode will be terminated when any of the following conditions are met:
  • The LH window control switch is pushed to the UP position.
  • The LH window control switch is released (OFF position) and then moved to the DOWN position (first detent) or OTD position (second detent).
  • Note: Delayed accessory feature must be active.
The OTD feature is controlled by the window control switch.

---------------------------------------------------------
Condition Possible Sources Action
  • All power windows are inoperative
  • Fuse(s).
  • Circuitry.
  • LF window control switch.
  • Accessory delay relay.

Buick LeSabre left front window will not close

Don it. Good half day for amateur. Get Chilton 86-99 Bonneville, 88, Lesabre manuel.. Tricky to find bolts are under end flaps on door close handgrips. Took me a day to figure that one out. Others under light at lip of back of door. Book indicates to strart with window 3/4 up if you can. Flip up window control at rear of panel. After all screws are out raise outer edge of armrest and look for notches 4" and 11-1/2" from rear of armrest to slide inward to remove. There are screws under the door handle too. Screws everwhere. When pulling bottom of panel from door lift with a notched bar to avoid tearing the fasteners out of the cardboard panel. Two screws behind seatbelt notch at top need to come out to allow positioning the glass. The panel at the bottom of the top opening can be removed for more fredom in positioning the glass when reinserting the ball in the lower track on the window. Tape glass with duct tape to keep it from falling. Drill the factory rivets that hold the old regulator and I replaced with stove bolts with nylon locknuts slotted head to the inside the car. Can't remember the size, probably 1/4 or 3/16". Remove speaker if in front bottom of door to use your hand to do work in the door. You must twist the regulator forward with window 1/2 down to remove the ball from the socket in the bottom sliding metal track at the bottom of the window. Don't drop the window after removing the socket, tape it in place. Don't know what you do if you cannot move it to 1/2 up position. By the way, the body shops say you must use rivets, not screws or it will shift, but I have had no problems with the screws for reinstallation several years old. The rivet they use take a big hydraulic pop rivet gun that you won't have. Good luck, I don't envy you. Need to do other window on my 91. The window control may not be the same on the Custom, mine is the Ltd. you may be able to remove the motor from the regulator in the door without removing the regulator if you can figure out how to get the bolts that hold the moter to the regulator. inside the door.
