How do I remove peugeot 306 gear knob

If it's the original knob then you have to remove the gaiter housing (the leather thing around the stick for novices) as the knob extends to under the gaiter and no amount of pulling will remove it without doing this first. It's easy to remove just by lifting from the long edges first and it slips out. The gaiter is secured into the middle of the bottom of the knob by a zippy tie that you have to cut. You can then just pull the whole knob up with a little bit of force but it slips up revealing a white plastic shaft

Change gear knob

This is an "it depends" answer. It depends on the type of gearshift knob and its installation. If your vehicle is equipped with a manual shift and the shift lever is little more than a steel rod sticking up from the console, then it is easy to replace.

To replace it, simply do this:

1. Set the parking brake
2. Take the car out of gear
3. Center the gearshift
4. Place a piece of cloth around the gearshift knob to prevent damage
5. Place a ViceGrip (R) or pair of pliers around the cloth on the gearshift knob and gently begin turning the knob to the left
6. Spin the knob off the shaft

Remember, though, this works only if the gearshift knob does not have another function combined. For example, you might find a reverse gear actuator on the top of the gearshift knob or you might find a reverse actuator button on the front face of the gearshift knob. This type of combined function gearshift knob is usually found on automatic transmissions.

If you want to remove the gearshift knob from this type of shift, see the service manual and obtain the tools you will need as this type of gearshift knob is much more complex to remove and involves many different systems that have to be addressed before the knob will come off.

It is better to leave this type of fix to trained technicians.

How do I relplace gear shift?

If you have a stick shift ( floor shift) remove the boot around the gear stick and the insulation on the floor to reveal the 4 bolts that hold the shift turret on to the top of the box. Undo the bolts and lift the gear lever assembly out of the gear box.

Gear shifter will not go into park

There is a plastic actuator stick under the shift knob. Remove the "horse shoe" clip from the shift knob and remove knob by pulling strait up. You can twist it right and left a very small amount to loosen the knob, but not much.
Once you have the shift knob removed you will see the plastic actuator stick. Push down on the stick and put shift lever in park. If that works, the shift knob or stick is worn out.
Let me know.

Gear shift knob

The shifter knobs on these vehicles is installed very very tightly.

I have never been able to remove one without ruining it by tearing the cover, which should not be a big issue since you're replacing it.

The knob threads on like a nut would (lefty-loosy, righty-tighty). I use a large set of channel-lock pliers and they are still tough to break loose.

Good luck and I hope that this is helpful!

Removal of gear shift knob

There are two types of shift knobs. One that unscrews and one that the lower trim of the shift knob separates from the knob using a trim stick. After separating the lower trim from the knob pull upward to release the knob from the shift lever. If a new shifter assembly is being installed, unscrew the original shift knob or separate the lower trim from the knob and pull up to remove the knob from the shift lever. Screw the knob onto the new shifter assembly's lever no more than 14 turns or install the lower trim onto the shift lever then push the knob onto the shift lever and install the lower trim piece onto the shift knob.
