What are oil pressure specs for a 2006 Grand Prix GT w/3800

Series III motor. I don't have a manual for this, but my light keeps coming on and need to know so when I put my gauges on, I can diagnose.

Lubrication System

^ Oil Pressure - @ 1850 RPM 414 kPa (60 psi)

With this Piticular Engine The oil Pump Is the ONLY Problem I"ve found that They Are even Slightly Bad At and Not A HUGE Problem at all,Oil sending Unit May very well be the Culpret. Hope this Helps you Diagnose it Correctly.

I have a 2007 HHR, my temp gauge stops working and the same time the a/c stops blowing cold air...I called myself checking fuses and a relay, can you help?


You mean the blower motor stops blowing air , the A/C compressor is still engaged ? The temp gauge shouldn't have anything to do with the blower motor .But stranger things have happened on these systems when they are controlled by a electronic module (BCM )
Circuit/System Description
The instrument panel cluster (IPC) displays the engine coolant temperature as determined by the engine control module (ECM). The ECM sends the temperature data via high speed GMLAN serial data to the body control module (BCM). The BCM then sends the information via low speed GMLAN to the IPC in order to display the engine temperature.
The BCM applies voltage to the blower motor through the HVAC relay. The resistors and the blower motor are in a series circuit. The following list represents the number of resistors in series with the blower motor per particular speed request:
• Low speed--4 resistors
• Medium 1 speed--3 resistors
• Medium 2 speed--2 resistors
When the operator requests High speed, the HVAC control assembly applies ground directly to the blower motor through the high blower motor control circuit.

Car temp gauge goes the top of gauge after about 15 miles but dont thinks running hot any suggestions


What make , model and year vehicle ? Could be the stepper motor that controls the gauge . You don't say what vehicle but i know GM vehicles had problem with bad stepper motors 2003 - 2006 . Abs warning light keeps coming


When you start any vehicle motor ALL dash
lights should go out & stay out

You know you have check light on,malfunction
indicator lamp,& should know that you have to check
for codes with a day or two & resolve ALL issues within
a few days to a week or stop using any vehicle that has fault codes

You won't likely get a free code reading at parts store with the ABS
You will need professional scan tool software,then go to
Enhanced Mode,then to the ABS Module, for the codes

Then you need a repair shop with a data base or factory manuals at home to work on it (diagnose)

If you read your owners manual you will learn something,
not much, but have to start somewhere

Check lights have been on all vehicles since 1983, some
31 years. SO--I don't know what to tell you, when you say
you don't know what it means

You can speculate all you want,what you need to do is check for
codes,again what most people have done for 3 decades,look
them up & then have a repair shop diagnose the code fault

You provided no vehicle year,engine,OBD2 Codes

Have no vehicle history on maintenance,or if someone
just put the problem in there

Check oil light on 1996 chevy cavalier. guy who sold me said that it was easy fix if i bought the part. but the check oil light keeps coming on and off. there is a rattling noise in the back so im not...


My question is that if it was an easy fix why didn't he fix it? I would put a manual oil pressure gauge on the engine to check the oil pressure. When an oil light comes on that is not good. It may just have a bad oil pressure sending unit but I would confirm that with a manual gauge which you can buy at any parts store for pretty cheap. If you are hearing rattling noises from the engine I would suspect internal engine problems especially if you don't have good oil pressure. Is the oil up to the correct level? It may be something little but I would want to know what my oil pressure is and if it's not good I would try to take the car back and demand my money back because that car is not worth $2000 if it needs major work. Service engine light keeps coming on in motor.


It's going to keep coming on, until you have it diagnosed and possibly repaired.
Service Lights have been on vehicles for 30 years,you should know what to do by now.
You have a possible system malfunction. Those lights are govt mandated,so you repair your vehicle as soon as possible ,and don't polute the air

Oil gauge keeps coming on, keep checking oil is good but gauge keeps coming on why? shuts off when we start up again but after a few miles comes on again but when we turn off motor and star up dosen't...


This oil (I'm assuming you mean the light) gauge is telling you not that your oil is low, but that your oil pressure is low. This can happen in high mileage engines after they've gotten worn out, or if the oil pressure sender fails or gets plugged. You'll want to have someone check your oil pressure with a manual gauge to verify which is the problem, and then it'll either mean a new sender, or a different or overhauled engine.

Motor turns over but will not start it is getting fuel has new glow plugs but i don,t know if they are coming on


Its not too hard to check the glowplugs. You can do it several ways. Either take off a wire to each glowplug and connect a test light or meter to the wire and the other end to a ground.

If its a stick shift you need it in neutral, set the brakes or block a wheel. If yours is an Automatic, Park or neutral is fine. Turn on the key and listen for a "Clicking sound". The wire you pulled off should cause the test light to light up, or the gauge to move if the gauge is set to 12 volts.

Without a test light or gauge you would just pull out a glowplug and ground the case. Reconnect the power wire and repeat the earlier test. This time you need to look at the glowplug to see if it is getting redhot.

If the power wire is is not delivering spark, you need to check the timerbox for power going into it. If the timerbox is not getting power, contact Autozone or Oreillys and see if your model has any Relay for the glowplugs. If there is power going to the timerbox and none coming out, then the timerbox is bad.

The timerbox is only on for 2 minutes or less. It stays on longer in cold weather. But a diesel uses the hot glowplugs only to start, the Timerbox will be on less and less as the glowplugs heat up. This makes diagnosing the part tough. You may have to let things cool off several times to verify it is giving the glowplugs spark.
