SOURCE: location of alternator 1986 ford f150 xlt lariat

Well first have you charged your battery back up, if so then try to by pass the ingintion switch by just connecting the two main post of the colenoid with a piece or wire, this creates a direct wire basically from your battery to your starter, if still no luck you will need a new starter located more to the drivers side close to right under the pedels on the bottom side of the truck.

SOURCE: how do I change ignition switch on a 1994 ford

Using the correct ignition key, put the key in the ignition switch and turn to the accessory or on position. look under the switch on the underside of the column and you will see a small hole. Use a small poke tool like an awe or a big stout paperclip and push the pin. you will feel it move when you poke it. pull the ignition switch out with key still in it. The switch has to be turned in order to get it out smoothly without damage. Please leave feedback to let other know if this helps your situation. I know this will as I replace ford switches daily. Thanks

I changed the battery in my 2006 f150 and now it won't start, and i hear a clicking noise in fuse box

Its possible that you have armed the passlokc or immobilizer system; check in the owners manual de reset or disarm procedure.

Other possibilities, starter or ignition switch go to bad.

1st check the main cable to the starter make sure it is clean and tight, disconnect battery first, after that there should be a small wire going to the starter jump that small connector to the main battery cable on the starter (IGNITION OFF) if it cranks you have a wiring or ignition switch problem if not Starter time just make sure you get a very good quality starter some cheap and even lifetime starters are so poorly made that even after you replace them you still have a problem only a bad noise coming from the new starter you just put in.

1998ford f150 starter won't crank or turn over.full charged battery.starter ingages when crossing small hot bolt with upper larger bolt.clicks with ignition.

First make sure you can turn engine over with a socket and that it is not seized. Second if engine checks out fine does the starter just click with the ignition key? If it does perform what is called a voltage drop test on the starter cables. Connect a volt meter on each end of the cable you are testing you should read no more that a half a volt drop when loading the circuit. If cables check out fine pull the starter and have it bench tested at an auto parts store. But be carefull bench testing can show a starter is ok with out putting a load on it, if it still shows good on the bench you still may need to replace it. If you don't get a click with the key check for 12 volts at the starter connector unplugged, if no trace starter wire noting color code back through the starter safety switch back to the ignition switch.

Will not crank , can jump at starter , but want star with ignition switch .

Replace the ignition switch...

But! If you are turning the key and you are not getting anything from the starter, then replace the starter.

Another words, if you are turning the key and there is NO noise at all coming from the starter, then replace the ignition switch.

If there is SOME noise/clicking or anything, replace the starter.

I would reccomend to remove the starter and check the teeth on the flywheel and make sure that the ring gear is still attached to the flywheel. You may find the starter loose when you go to remove it but I would still check the teeth on the flywheel!
