Question about 2004 Hyundai Santa Fe

2 Answers

I have a 2001 Hyundai Santa Fe(4 cylinder) It has been missing bad expecially when I put a load on it. I changed spark plugs last week and it ran like a top for 4 days and then the same problem all over again. I took it to an auto part store and they loaned me thier diagnotic tool, I plugged it in and it said I had a problem with cyclinder 2 which is where one of the coil packs sits over. Would replacing that solve the oproblem possibly and if I change it should i also replace the boot and put in another set of spark plugs? Thanks for any help.

The plugs may be a bad set and failed but try switching the coil first with the other coil and see if the problem moved to the other cylinder. If it did then it's a bad coil and just replace the coil. good luck and hope this helps. Keep me posted, be glad to help

Did u use a torque wrench on those plugs, and gap them, check torque cause if to tight then they go bad fast, coil packs may not be prob but expensive, only cause you said it ran fine after you changed them

What is the firing order on a 2002 Hyundai santa fe

Common configuration is 1 - 3 - 4 - 2 for most cars of the four cylinder type -- I have not worked on a Hyundai Santa Fe so I don't know if this is a six cylinder or not and I cannot remember the firing order for six pot anyway .......... sorry

Cylinder 3 misfire on 2001 Hyundai Santa Fe

sometimes the fuel injector can be out of range but this would give a trouble code.
then check spark plug to see if it is wet or fouled.
check plug wire for external sparks.
last check the coil pack.

Changing spark plugs

You most likely have a big cover over the engine that is covering everything up. If you can get that off (sorry, I've never removed one) you should be able to see the plug wires/coil on plugs, whichever the vehicle has. 4 or either 6 depending on the number of cylinders. You may just see black rubber looking caps. Plugs are under them.

Where are the spark plugs located in a 03 hyundai santa fe??

To locate and change the the (4) spark plugs on a 2003 Hyundai 2.4L 4 cylinder engine:
Remove the (4) 12mm bolts from the decorative plastic engine cover. Remove plastic cover from engine and place it off to the side out of your way.
Standing in front of the car, the (4) spark plugs are located laterally (left to right) in the recessed area underneath where the plastic engine cover was removed.
Note: This engine has (2) coils....They are located above spark plugs number (2) and (3) from left to right.

I have no spark on my 2001 4 cyl hyundai santa fe,i have

There is a very good chance the Crankshaft Position Sensor needs replaced. The CKP is what I replace the most for no spark on the 2.4 engine. It is behind the timing belt cover mounted above the crankshaft sprocket. Sometimes they just fail because the sensor was a bad part, other times teeth shear off of the timing belt and get in the wrong place and break the sensor.
