The mounts can be changed with the car (rather high) on jack stands, but it's alot easier if you have access to a lift.

it's best to replace all three mounts at the same time. the engine mounts are hydraulic. aftermarket replacements are known for early failure. there doesn't seem to be any reliable ones on the market. best to use the mopar oem parts. the trans mount is rubber.

engine mounts - important! replace the mounts one at a time to maintain engine position. both sides take the same part number.

  1. from underneath, remove the bolt holding the heat shield in place on the top of each engine mount and remove the heat shields.
  2. loosen the two lower mounting nuts through the cradle access holes, on each mount, until the nuts are even with the end of the studs.
  3. loosen the two upper mounting nuts on each mount until the nuts are even with the end of the studs.
  4. raise the engine slightly and remove all 4 nuts from only one of the mounts. continue raising the engine until you can slip out the old mount and position the new one.
  5. lower the engine until you can install the 4 nuts even with the ends of the studs (refer to items 2 and 3). do not tighten at this time.
  6. repeat items 4 & 5 for the other mount.
  7. carefully lower the engine all the way down making sure the mount studs don't bind in the cradle holes. away the jack.
  8. torque all eight nuts to 45 ft. lbs. & reinstall the heat shields.
transmission mount
  1. support the transmission with a trans jack if you have one, otherwise use the 2x6 and jack you used on the front mounts. jack the trans just enough to remove the weight from the rear mount.
  2. remove the insulator thru-bolt from the mount.
  3. remove the bolts holding the mount to the crossmember and remove the mount.
  4. installation is the reverse of disassembly.
note: if you ever had the wheels aligned while the mounts were bad, there's a small chance the alignment could change with the new mounts in place. best to have it checked.

SOURCE: motor mounts

Most motor mounts are basically a piece of rubber attached to a piece of metal. Rubber just dries out after time and begins to crack off. Accelerating hard can speed up this process.

SOURCE: replace the engine motor mounts and the transmission mount. Would like to know how to do it. Thanks.

Check the frame mounts too. You will have to loosen the bolts and jack the motor up with a jack and a woodblock.

How to change motor mounts on Pontiac Gran AM GT.

Its not that difficult, although you must remove all accessory components from the front of the engine. Remove all the above and unbolt motor mount assembly. Reverse process to reassemble. Forward motor mount should be rather obvious and you may have to winch the motor forward in the vehicle to remount motor mount.

My 92 honda accord ex as a rough idle at stop and if i put in it reverse the idle is alot rougher. it idle at 750rpm

Typically this a result of bad motor mounts, I had the same issue with my 92 honda accord, changing the side mounts and the strut up front resolved the issue. The Trans mount, behind the motor is the most difficult mount to change and requires you to unbolt the other mounts and roll the motor far enough forward to gain access to that mount, but once all 4 mounts are replaced your issue should be resolved

Motor mount on 95 Cavalier

Depends on which one you are replacing? If you are replacing the upper one on the belt end of the engine, yes it's on the passenger side and it is fairly easy to change. You need to jack up the engine with a floor jack and a woodblock to change it.
