Black smoke indicates you are burning excess fuel. This could be anything from a bad air cleaner through to sensors, injectors and fuel pump pressure.

The miss could be a plug or other ignition problem.

Start with the plugs, air cleaner and timing, the simple and easy fixes. Then work your way back through a process of elimination if the problem is not cured by the first fixes.

I would say that with the grey smoke and all, your piston/s are skipping.
This means that the cylinders are worn unevenly from top to bottom.
The pistons then slightly bounce or skip in the cylinders.
Time for a rebore perhaps?

Truck want accelerate over 35 mph black smoke comes out and skip 1998 international t444e 4700 7.3

missing can be from faulty injector tips and or low fuel pressures
Low fuel pressure can be from a blocked vent pipe on the top of the fuel tank not allowing sufficient fuel through to maintain pressure to the pump.

Black smoke coming from the exaust. Legacy is

Hello,

Have you done a service recently? If you havent, then you need to change all the standard parts...
Fuel Filter, Plugs, lead wires (probable culprit).
I assume when you said that it's skipping real bad, you meant it has a missfire. This could be caused by the lead wires so check those first.

If you have checked all of these, your head gasket or rings could be a the problem, and a big problem at such.

I hope this helps.

Dodge ram engine smokes when stated and skips

What color smoke? Black is emissions related, blue/black your burning oil and white your burning anti-freeze. With the "skip" your REF to, you probably have a bad spark plug, wire, or bad cylinder and burning some oil or coolant. CK plugs , wires & do a compression test. Pressure test Radiator for head gasket leak.

Check the IAC, (idle air control) remove the air intake to the engine, spray brake cleaner in the intake, pay attention to the square/round hole inside the inlet, spray it with cleaner, the car will be a bit hard to start at first. let me know if it works.

My jeep grand cherokee is smoking really bad. Black smoke and it also skips. What might this be?

Black smoke is too much fuel. Bad spark plug, or plugs, bad spark plug wire or wires, bad injector, allow engine to cool, pull the spark plugs. does one look bad? Replace one or all. Plug wires don't last forever. An injector can stick open an pass too much gas :)
