Oil pan removel on 1998 jimmy wont come off motor. do i need to losen trans to get oil pan off

check that the bottom half of the timing chain cover isn't too tight, or the seals and gaskets are good and stuck, make sure you have a couple oilpan bolts threaded loosely enough to allow the oilpan to move but threaded enough to hold the oilpan up, hit the bottom of the oilpan to knock it loose

1998 gmc jimmy is knocking

There are several things that could cause a knock, ranging from a worn crankshaft bearing(s) to a worn water pump.

You can further pinpoint this knock by defining if it occurs occasionally, constantly, just at a specific RPM, or only under a load.

What kind of a knock is it? Hi-pitched or low-pitched?

A more detailed problem description would yield you a more specific/helpful answer.

Knock sensor on 1998 gmc jimmy

it is located beside the crank pully. it controls the timing, a bad one will give you bad fuel mileage and could get a knocking sound when going up step hills. it keeps the engine from knocking by adjusting timing.

1998 gmc safari engine knocking

You probably have a bad connecting rod bearing, broken piston, worn piston wrist pin, a bad lifter or rocker arm. You could pull the valve covers to see if anything is broken. The others are in the motor.
