Question about Mitsubishi Cars & Trucks
I have a 2001 mitsubishi eclipse GT model 6cyl.I noticed that when I put on all the electrical system i.e heat, headlight, radio, wiper etc, the vehicle begins to **** seriously and the tachometer RPM begins to go up and down. However once I switch on one of the equipments especially the "Heat" or "headlamp" the car drives normally. Don't know what to do anymore. I thought it was the alternator not supplying enough charge,so I bought a brand new alternator from PEPBOYS. Installed a 1000 amp battery which seem to work for about 1 day and then the problem started again. What do I do.Love this car so much but right now I'm thinking of selling off the car if I can't get this figured out. Don't have too much money to spend so someone please help. Thanks Ade

SOURCE: My battery drains overnight
Connect a 12 volt DC test light between battery cable & post on positive terminal.(remove terminal) (inline) When that light is on, there is a draw. Radio memory, alarm/antitheft systems, etc will cause a draw, so make notes & pull them first. Light will be dull on low draw, bright on high draw. Watch light closely & start pulling fuses, when you see it dim down,or go off you;ve found a draw. If no change, put it back in & continue. I usually start with the suspected draw spots like listed above, and accessories fuses.(like a cigarette lighter stuck in.) If all else fails, I've had to remove all the fuses then start replacing one at a time, until light gets bright, to point me in direction of major draw. Don't be proud, if you don't think it's labeled well enough for you to remember where they all go, make your own drawing & notes. Keep me posted of your progress.

could be a number of things (throttle position sensor, crank position sensor, bad injector, faulty coil, bad plugs, etc) i would take it to a shop and have them scan it .If the scanner comes up with multiple problems and your forced to start "throwing parts " at it, remember most electrical parts cannot be returned once opened, so it could get expensive.shops sometimes have what i call "test pilots", properly working parts to put in to see if it corrects the problem through a process of elimination. this is one way a shop can actually save you money.
