Question about 2004 Kia Sedona

Drive shaft gaiter

Have a 04 kia having trouble getting off shaft off is there any ser clips on there or just bang off please can someone help never done one of these cars so dont know how it comes off thanks

Drive Axle in Transaxle?

Need to use a long pry bar at least 36" long

Don't pry against any aluminum case

Get against metal or use wood to protect the
trans case, then you snap the pry bar against the axle,
next to the trans,don't hit it or just pry

You need a little pop or strike with the bar, then pressure
to pop it out

Putting it back in can be fun also
Have to line up the spines without releasing pressure
on the cir clip

just because it may be a "new" car that is already 3 years old, that doesn't mean that it won't have problems. do you take care of it? services regularly, oil changes regularly? a car only lasts as long as the owner wants it to. that being said, once a year to get something fixed under warranty isn't bad at all. i'd stick with the car you already have instead of buying another new one. you'll save money in the long run and if your worried about it, get an extended warranty that covers the whole car except normal maintenance items. that way you'll be covered and you won't be breaking the bank.

The CV joints snap ring usually pop when you strike the joint squarely with a hammer. take care not to pop the shaft . If you clean the back of the CV joint you will see if it is a snap ring or a horseshoe type clip (that has to be compressed) either way you strike the CV joint from behind.

Fitting a leather gaiter on an x type jag

that is simple.

the shift knob is threaded on to the shift lever and you need to rotate it counterclockwise to remove. the gaiter is held in place with the trim ring that is attached by 4 clips in the corners. using a couple of popsicle sticks (or other thin, protected tool, so not to damage the wood trim, etc) you can get under the corner of the gaiter surround and gently pry upward. see illustration.

I keep hearing a banging in the transfer case and its not the c v joints?

Have your front end differential checked. My 2003 Sorento did the same knockin especially uphill and when I took it to the shop after several months of trying to fig it out on my own they said this is a VERY common problem with Kia's. GOODLUCK!!!

It is held on by a clip which is crimped
To see,un clip gaiter and pull up over gear stick
Loosen clip with small screw driver untill gear knob comes off

This is a known problem and has been increasingly noted by sedona owners. Steering shaft becomes corroded making vehicle steer hard. They say due to salt but if you live anywhere it snows you cant avoid it.

We are having a knocking sound when turning. You can hear it and feel it. What can be done to solve this?

drive shaft universal coupling is worn a little in the edges of the cups where the ball bearings are ,no soloution just renew ,honest advice -- it will run like this for years ,when the rubber gaiters split then renew the shaft for an exchange unit other than that leave it alone What i often do when i have a gaiter change as its a annual test failure here ,i remove the constant velocity (coupling) take the balls out wash it out in diesel and rebuild it with new grease and new gaiter and more often than not the noise stops for a while ,but its not dangerous just a pain in the you know where when you have passengers who think the wheel is going to fall off

Hi, most hyundai's you just undo the large drive shaft nu in the centre of the wheelnutst, the 2 bolts securing the strut(shocker) to the stub axle, sometimes you have to pop the tie rod end as well & even the inner control arm bolt, turn the stub full lock so you can get the shaft out through the back of it, then lever the shaft out of the diff with a screwdriver. Usually you have to pull the shaft appart to change the rubber boot, you'll need circlip pliers for this & it's pretty self explanatory which end to pull appart. It's a good idea to clean the grease off first so you can see what you're doing, good luck, hope this helps :)

I am having trouble removing the half shafts from

that is a common problem on the escort,it got so bad at our shop we took an old cv shaft that we took out of a escort we used a metal grinder and cut the center of the splined end of the shaft so it would fit around the keeper pin inside the tranny and it allows you to hit the end of the shaft and forcing it out but ofcourse you have to have atleast one axle out to knock out the side your having trouble with other than that a 5 pound hammer may help

Having trouble removing the outer cv gaiter on audi a4 can't get cv drive to come off !

wel if you have removed the joint out of the hub take the bolt you removed screw it back into the joint all the way until it stops make it hard. take heavy hammer and hit the bottom edge of the joint will take good force to knock the joint past the cir clip that holds it in place. then u should be ok. any question return on this thread
