Question about 1999 GMC Safari
So the van starts and runs fine. But when I start to accelerate the engine starts to stall and will sputter like its not getting enough fuel or air. What I suspect is the issue the fuel filter and or Fuel injection system. Now what I have researched it looks like the fuel pressure regulator is a common part to fail. Thanks in advance!
Usually the failure of the regulator results in a fuel leak either externally where it would be seen or internally where the engine wouldn't run. If the filter hasn't been changed in a while it should be changed. Also, the spark might be bouncing around the wires or cap. I've even seen it bounce out of the coil. That would sound like a clicking noise.

Hello. The GMC Sierra has an electric fuel pump so you should ensure that its fuses and relays are working before checking it. You may need to clean your fuel pump or replace it if your gas tank is not empty, but your vehicle has difficulty getting fuel. The GMC Sierra comes in a variety of styles and trim levels that can affect the replacement fuel pump you choose.

Smell of the oil,to see if the fuel injector(spider)is leaking into the crank case,if so,the intake will have to be removed to repair the problem,oh,and change the oil.

It sounds to me like your idle relief valve is malfunctioning. This little device pictured below does a lot of good things but is a pain when not functioning.
• Regulates the amount of air entering the engine during idle.
• When not replaced, vehicle could experience high or low idle, engine dies at idle and/or severe high idle possibly causing internal engine damage and safety issues.
• Designed to meet or exceed OE specifications in form, fit and function.
• Global coverage for import and/or domestic applications.
