Threepoints of interest.

Your crankshaft position sensor ( controls spark) & the

Mass air flow sensor (controls the air / fuel ratio to engine )

Good luck.

If you replaced the crank sensor under the ac compressor next would be the ign module on the drivers side under the hood hinge.

Will not start no spark

Check your cam sensor and crank sensor. Both are used by the computer to determine when it is time to throw spark. If either sensor fails the car will just crank and not even try to start. If I were to guess I would say it is the crank sensor. You can try scanning it for codes. If a sensor failed it should have a "no crank signal" or "no cam signal" code. Good luck.

Car turns over but won't fire over or start. I

Yes the crankshaft position sensor would cause this and is a common problem. To tell if this is what is causing the concern when you turn the ignition switch on the check engine light should come on.When you go to the start position while engine is cranking it should go out for a few seconds and still while cranking it should come back on(all of this usually takes about 10secs).If it come back on while cranking the the computer sees the signal from the sensor,if it does not come back on after 10 secs of cranking then it does not see it and this will be your problem.
Now it could be just a connector problem or the sensor itself could be bad.You can try and unplug it and plug it back up and see if it will start. If this is your concern I would recommend replacing the connector and sensor. It will be located next to the crankshaft pulley on the engine.

Code po412 for a 1996 lincoln continental

not a big deal to have MIL light on. P0412 is secondary air injection valve switching A circuit.
Try this first. Disconnect battery for 1/2 hour. then reconnect and drive car for 10 miles so computer can relearn engine controls. may run rough during this time. See if that turns light off.
