Cjk the temp sending unit. It is a grounding switch if single wire, and is bypassed if you have A/C. good luck

P1491 diagnostics code for 2003 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Trouble Code: P1491 You PCM does not sense current to radiator fan when it turns it on. Is the fan coming on or not? Usually not when you have this code. Problem can be with the fuse, relay, wiring or fan itself. First check the fuse. If good, next try swapping the relay with another one in the engine compartment relay box, such as the horn relay.
Let the car warm up and see if the fan will come on. If yes, get a new relay. If not, either use a test light to see if there is voltage at the fan connector when the engine is on and hot, or else test the fan motor by hotwiring it to the battery. If none of this works, please get back to me for how to troubleshoot the wiring.

Radiator Fan Control Relay Circuit Malfunction
Possible Causes:

I have jeep gran cherokee laredo 2000 engine 4 liters my engine fan no work a i check direct my fan and work i chech the fuses is ok and relays to

Check your temperature sending unit. Here's how it works: sending unit sends a message to the computer telling it it's hot. Computer sends a ground signal to the relay that in turn completes the circuit to the fan. If the temp sender does not do that and the computer, fuse, relay and wiring are good, the fan won't come on.

2002 grand cherokee need to locate a relay for the fan to replace

A relay for the fan in the engine compartment of the heater/AC fan ? The relay for the engine fan is on the right fenderwell by the battery and has a black cover over it. Lift the cover and you will see on the underside of the cover which relay is for the engine fan.

My 2000 jeep grand cherokee is overheating when i drive less than one mile and the coolant light is going off. i replaced the thermostat and checked the coolant level (which is fine) but it is still...

replace your cooling fan motor relay because if you dont eventually your radiator will explode and this will cause your engine block to crack and then if your fan isn't blowing the engine will continue to overheat and the engine will seize and then you need a new engine. A cooling fan motor relay is around $30.
