Can there be a noise coming from the transfer box


If this is a 1997 LeSabre as titled, it has no transfer box. The part that is making the grind is called something else.

Noise comming from transfer case on my 2007 chevy 2500 hd, was told at dealership that my steering box was bad, could that noise be from steering box, is box located in the same area as transfer case


No, the steering box is located in the left front and the transfer case is located in the center of the vehicle.If the vehicle has under 100,000 miles and it is the transfer case it should be under warranty.

I have a 1985 s-10 blazer with the 2.8 i just recently purchased this truck when i got it the transfer case and front diff were leaking so i proceded to take them off i replaced the front diff with a new...


well i have the same blazer and my transfer case is messed up...the older model chevys had alot of problems with the t-case because the chain inside them grinds against the inside of the t-case and will cause a hole and once there is a hole u have to get a new one its not fixable :( sorry but u will just need to buy a new one or get a new chain for the t-case u will just have to get it looked at because it might not have a crack or a hole in the case shell but if it does you will just need a new one

My 05 Chevy 2500HD is making a grinding noise when decelerating, as in going down a hill. When applying pressure to the accelerator it stops. It sounds like its coming from the rear bottom.


It is the transfer case. It seems to be a big problem with the 2004 and 2005 models. They are not synchronized and bend the forks alot. The noise you hear is the chain rolling off the gear. Mine only did it when I was going over 45 downhill and not on the throttle for a few seconds. Hope this helps...

Every time i turn my heater or air condioner on it makes a ticking sound then it goes away after a few seconds it sounds like it coming from the inside by the glove box or right below it


Sometimes leaves or debris collect inside the blower motor case Also if the vehicle has alot of miles and the noise changes tones when changing blower motor speeds the motor may be failing or in need of lubrication. First i would check and clean the blower motor case of debris or leaves. This requires removing nthe blower motor and looking in the housing. Good Luck and I Hope this was very helpful.

the vehicle has to be put on a hoist. turn the driveshaft that goes to the rear wheels,it is driven by a transfer case that is almost in the middle of the vehicle,just rearward of the transmission.
if the noise comes from the transfer case,then that is the problem.
the drive shafts for the rear have universal joints which can develop play and give the same clunk.
if it is the transfer case,it needs to have a gear replaced.
always warm up the vehicle for enough time for the engine to come down to 1000rpm before putting in drive,the fast idle is over 2000rpm,and puts alot of stress on the drive components,and over time wear them prematurely.

have the rear wheel bearings checked they had a recall on them they get water inside and rust up and whine please rate and good luck -jeff

Noise under truck


Most of this problem it came from the dry balljoint, tie rod and broken suspension lower or upper side before you fix the lower suspension try to put grease your balljoint and tie rot or some parts that need to put some grease......
