SOURCE: My hyundai is making a rattling noise

that sounds like what we call "spark knock" that occurs when u accellerate quickly, but yes it will go away in a few seconds when the computer detects this condition. with the economy the way it is it will be more expensive, but try running higher octane gasoline in it, should cure this condition. hope that helped you!!

SOURCE: check engine light flashing

Whenever the "Check Engine" light comes on, there is always a DTC (Diagnostic Trouble Code) stored in the ECM (Engine Control Module). You'll need an OBDII (On-Board-Diagnostics) scanner to retrieve any codes recorded/set in ECM. Once you do this and let us know what, if any codes are set, then we can go from there. Could be ignition, fuel, vacuum leak, throttle position sensor, crank position sensor, etc., etc., etc.

SOURCE: engine revs but car doesn't accelerate

Since you did not say what type of transmission you have i will suspect the clutch is slipping if it's a manual.
If it's an automatic, it could be several things. Low fluid level...clogged filter, fluid needs to be changed..transmission serviced...weak pump, bands/clutch packs worn...etc
Good luck..i hope this helps, please rate me a fixya.

This is most likely your problem, cheap fix. DIY. Take off the plastic cover from the top if your engine. There are two coils each with a plug wire connecting to the cylinder beside it. Replace the coil that the code came from. Its pretty easy and you can get the part for about 40 bucks online. Email me at joeyc507@yahoo.com with any questions.

time to get the engine properly scanned, real time not code scanner, then you will have the readings from sensore and actuators, diagnose from there

could be a few things the start up could be the idle air control sensor (my first thought), the coolant temp sensor for the computer might be a secondary thought for the engine being cold if the computer thinks its warm. that would be the first 2 places i would start without a check engine light or code to reference

My engine idles rough

Check timing and timing chain. Aim a timing light at the crankshaft. If the markl jumps around a lot, your chain has jumped a cog, and will need to be replaced. You didn't change plugs and wires. That's always a good place to start too. You may have a dead plug or wire.

Stalling

I have a 2000 Sonata V6 with the same issue (low speed intermittent stalling). Finally found a Hyundai dealer that knew about the issue and replaced the CRANK SENSOR. This has dramatically reduced the stalling but it still occurs very rarely. I think the engine idle speed of my car is abnormally low and this may be a secondary issue not completely related.
