Will it crank in neutral, and have you checked the starter to see if it has power when the key switch is in the start position ?

NO START 1999 CAVALIER

If the click you hear is from the starter solenoid mounted on the starter, it could either be a bad starter or poor connections between battery and starter. Raise the hood and listen closely near the starter for the click, when someone turns the key to crank. If the click is from the starter solenoid, have starter tested or replaced. If click is from a relay under the hood, then the start circuit will have to be further diagnosed.

94 mitsubishi 3000gt will not turnover

Most starter solenoids are on the starter. There are 2 to 3 wires going to the starter, the big one from the battery is for the starter motor it's self. The smaller one is from the ign switch to the sol. That's the one I'm guessing your having problems with. When you turn the key do you get a "click" sound or just nothing? If there is a click then your getting power from the key. And the heavy gauge wire is not delivering power to the motor. Check at battery or if they use a terminal block

Starter sounds like a good place to start.
Make sure battery is in good condition and fully charged, as wellas the battery cables and wiring to the starter(no corrision,0r looseness).

yes it sounds like the starter is bad,you have to keep on turning the key and you hear a click everytime you turn the key, replace the starter that should solve that problem, also make sure your battery connections are tight and clean.

I have a 95 v6 magna which wont start,I have replaced the battery, could it be the fuel pump or starter motor?

it could be a number of things. if you get someone to sit in the vehicle. and turn the key. not cranking it. just turn it to where the radio can come on you should hear a real light mechanical sound around your fuel tank. if you dont hear that your fuel pump is bad.

When I turn the ignition, the dashboard lights up but the car will not start (the motor does not sound to be turning over)

hi, if when you turn the key nothing happens or you just hear a faint clicking sound then this indicates that the starter motor needs replacing.

If you open the bonnet and get someone to turn the key to start the car you might hear a clicking sound coming from the starter motor if you hear this then this indicates the starter motor needs replacing, if on the other hand you hear nothing at all then you need to check all the wires going to the starter.
Also check the earth wires coming from the battery check they are all connected where they earth out on the body of the car and where it connects to the engine.

You could also try giving the starter motor a few hard hits with a hammer this usually gets it working for a few times.
Also if you car is manual gear box then put it in say 2nd gear then get someone to push the car slightly so that you are turning the engine that way then try starting using the key this also sometimes get the starter working be be warned this isnt permanent fix so get the starter changed sooner rather than later ok

Let me know how you get on or if you need further assistance ok

94 altima will not start.

If you hear clicking, that eliminates safety circuitry. If you have great battery power, thpically there is an issue inside the starter. It takes a fair amount of amps to fire a starter and those contacts evnetually build up carbon and intermittantly fail.

You did not mention how old the starter is. If old, replace or rebuild and specifically test and examine the armature. When over cranked, they short and some positions no longer pass current correctly. Other times it will work.

Long story short, easiest to just replace it, you do not want to get stuck..

1994 Honda Accord will not start when you turn the ignition.

Here a check list;

1) Try in Neutral and Park. Make sure the transmission cutoff switch is not the problem.
2) Turn on the lights and try the starter. Do the lights dims ? If not no current is going to the starter. Turn off lights.
3) Do you hear a clicking sound from the starter ?' If yes give the starter solenoid several sharp hit with a hammer. The solenoid may be sticking. The starter will have to be replaced in a few days. This will only work for a few times.
4) If you do not hear a clicking sound from the starter then look for the starter relay. I think it's located under the dash. Make sure the wires are connected and the relay works. I believe it clicks also.
If that ok then
5) Look at the fusible link. This is usually under the hood in a box. Sometimes they melt or the contacts get corroded.
