Wheel may need balancing, small quick job at garage. As for loud engine noise and vibration......miss firing cylinder, engines mount loose but more like something to do with exhaust manifolds leaking.
If you do one wheel, do them all...balance that is.
Good to check all parts of the steering bushes etc for loose rods.
One more simple check is to look for holes in engine heat shields and sound proofing. ............and check all wheel nuts are tight !
It happened to me, back from brake pad change, drove car home and the vibration really got my attention....I checked everything, except wheel nuts. I couldn't believe it could happen... but the *%$£" mechanic hadn't done up the nuts proper......small things can cause big trouble. Good luck
You may have front brake rotors which are slightly warped. The ABS only comes into play under very hard brakeing conditions. Typically you may also feel a slight pulse in the brake pedal as you slow down.That would be my best guess.If you have a vibration when you are stopped, that may be a motor mount issue. Either the front and/or rear mount may be weak.They are designed to isolate small engine vibrations you might feel when the car is at a stand still The motor mounts are designed to isolate small engine vibrations at a stand still at idle as well as limit the amount of travel the engine can make under a load. As a car gets older, the rubber which is what the mounts are made of get harder and often collapse slightly and can cause your condition because they are no longer plyable.Maybe this might shed some light on your problem. If your noise is a low pitch rumble that gets louder the faster you go, it likely is a wheel bearing that is the cause. Another sign that the noise is from a wheel bearing is if the noise tends to get louder when steering one direction at a steady speed, and quieter when steering the other direction. A transmission noise does not change with the steering.
I just had the same issue with a 1999 2500HD and the vibration got worse above 50 mph. Problem was resolved with a new driveshaft. Old one (aluminum) was badly out of true and the problem didn't really occur until I had the U joints changed - then bent driveshaft vibration was noticeable. New driveshaft resolved issue.
Sound more like out of balance tires, or bent wheel. Unless this vibration is even in park. Then I would say something is up against a part of the steering that shouldn't be.. Or your exhaust system is bent or touching part of the undercarriage that it shouldn't be. Was the car ever wrecked?
