The park lever is stuck in drive, why not say ? this?
the car does start in drive and neutraL.
So does it start in Neutral? crank over, ??????
no car starts if it cant crank (cept my M/T cars)
my 97 is a M/T. so is my 91 and 96.
the suzuki has a operators guide telling you (glove BOX)
how to use the park lock bypass. (the lock is failing here)
the system will not crank if park or netural is not selected first. by design and logic. (fact and features)

the 2 books 95 or 98 here will be correct. under trans usage and sARTING THE CAR. DOWN LOAD IT AND KEEP IT FOR next time.

http://www.fixkick.com/index9.html

it says in a nut shell , to access the bypass cover, and flip the lever there. (on the shift console left side)
see it? there, open it ?

the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

92 Suzuki Sidekick stuck in park-where do i find the magical switch or pin that will let me shift out of park that everyone is talking about?

why do other say to replace the most hard and expensive part first.
wow, what bad advice, !!!
yes, the shifter has the bypass, lever. see link. below and photo.
now the facts: (from easy and cheap to harder)
1: brake lamps dead, (both)
2: brake lamp switch dead.
3: wiper fuse blown causing park lock relay to be dead.
4: park lockout relay , bad.
5: PRNDL switch bad, in park. or cable snapped .
if bypass works, then the cable is not snapped, trans works,. see?
6: last the solenoid can be bad. (only if 12vdc makes it here)
(notice no lies or guessing)

randy, we had 3 of these cars , you zero.

Automatic transmission wont shift

98 sidekick.
in the USA we have the 4speed, A/T called. 03-72LE
do post what id does and not do. (full picture)
what wont shift?, the shifter or transmission or both?
won't go to park is clear. but;
1: are you on flat ground or on a hill parking to a curb.
vastly different rules there.
2: wont go into park so where does it go? everywhere buy park?
or flops around , like a loose Popsicle stick?

on flat ground the parking pawl in the tranny goes in easy.
on hills not so.. set the hand brake first, then park last.
on last, off first. (or trouble brews)
or it may not ever get to park. if rammed against curb or rock, or?

I would go with the short in the battery idea if the cables were connected correctly. You'll have to switch out the battery with another to find out.

1992 Suzuki Sidekick won't start

Are you in gear and not in neutral?
Could be your starter is dead, test your battery with a Multimeter and ensure that you're reading at least 12.5 volts.

If you're reading 12.5 or less 12.3 then your battery is in fact dead.

You could have a blown starter relay, fuze or a low battery causing a ticking sound. Your starter may have shorted out and the ticking you hear could be the starter solenoid.
