SOURCE: what does error code 55 mean for Subaru leagcy 2005

This is a communication error with the BIU (body integrated unit). Need to take to the dealer, possible that the ECU needs to be replaced to fix this issue. It should be covered under the federal emmission wrty.

SOURCE: Car would not start, after siiting for an hour it did start .

mcdevito75 here, BEST BET, let the shop do this work, too many un forseen problems could come up. The stalling and unable to start for a while could also be a bad ignition module, no test for this part, but I would have it changed, for if it is a bad ignition module, all this other work will not fix the stalling and later start of your car.

Cam shaft sensor code p0340 replaced still no start

You will get a cam shaft code if the timing belt is broken. This could be you issue. I would check the timing belt before you go any further.
It can damage your engine if you keep trying to start it.

Code p0340, p0462 on subaru outback 2001

Po340 is a cam shaft sensor and po462 is low voltage on your fuel guage. So i assume you are haveing fuel level issues. If you can turn wrenches you can do these repairs yourself. Just do a google search and you can get some youtube videos of sensor replacement and location. Have fun.

I have 2 engine codes on my 2005 dodge neon. they are p0325 and p0340. the car has problem starting and misses badly for a while. What is the problem and how do i fix it? thanx for the help!

the p0325 code pertains to a knock censor. the p0340 is for your cam shaft sensor. i've had this problem before. try replacing the cam shaft censor first and run the codes again to see if the other still comes up. it should fix the problem. hope this helps

Fri-My car wouldn't start. I got 8 codes: P0133, P0171, P0174, P0300, P0340, P01130, P01131, & P01132. It was determined that I needed to change my camshaft sensor. Unfortunately, after ordering it...

the codes are in the area of the heated oxygen sensor ( exhaust manifold before the cat converter--codes p 0131 ,p1131,p1132)
code p 3033 is random misfires, code p0340 is cam shaft position sensor fault
the engine will run with heated oxygen sensor problems (HO2S) but will not run with a cam shaft position sensor problem
check for wiring problems then replace that sensor , ensuring that you have the correct air gap to the rotor clearance I suspect it is a wiring problem as I am guessing in that finding the sensor you were moving the harness around to see where it was and to get to it
in that case you probably made a good connection for a period of time and then it failed again

Check that the timing has not jumped, incorrect timing will trigger a cam sensor code as the ecu can not work out the correct position of the cam.

Most common cause for code P0340 of 95 Ranger

Hi, the cam shaft sensor will be located Under the hood, center, upper engine area, mounted behind rear of intake manifold, in the engine block.

This is a magnetic or hall effect sensor. It sends a signal to the computer relaying information about shaft speed, position and acceleration or deceleration. This information determines when the fuel/air mixture needs to be ignited and how much mixture is needed for the engine.

The possible causes of failure will be faulty housing or faulty wires as well. A faulty ECM could trigger a false alarm as well. this is highly unlikely but, possible in most cases. The most reported reasons is flat out sensor failure.
