Question about 2004 Mercury Mountaineer
While driving out from the air port exit H1,I notice a ligt blinking with this word set. After that, I notice my brake lights won't turn off even when the car is off! So I have to unhooked the battery just to have it shut off.
Could be a failed stop light switch.

The switch is above the pedal. Check to see if it is broken or loose

you have either the thumb wheel switch beside the headlamp switch is turned all the way up or a sticking door ajar switch.
Does the door ajar light in instrument cluster stay on?
If so then you can shoot some WD-40 into the latches on the side of the doors then open and close them firmly a few times and this will usually unstick them.

SOURCE: Rear brake lights remain on.
just simply unplug connector from brake switch located at base of brake pedal, if lights go out switch is bad, if lights do not go out you have a short to power on brake lamp circut before turn signal switch

Depending on when you start counting the air bag blinks...1-5 or
5-1...that means it won't work. (Good news, if ya don't want it to.) Ford assured me it will NOT activate.
Sorry I can't help with the brake light, but...I'd check the fluid level & if the brakes work fine, I wouldn't concern myself with it.
