SOURCE: broken wheel stud

1. get new studs and nuts
2.remove wheel
3. remove caliper at bracket to spindle connection(2 18mm bolts?)you may need to remove caliper from bracket, but not always nessacery. Or remove drum, then to #5
4.remove rotor, will need a hammer, tap inbetween studs dont wreck good studs and see if new studs can be installed without removing parking brake shoes. If there is no clearance to get new stud in you will need to remove shoes.
5.Pound out old studs place new stud in hole use a washer on outside then put a nut on and tighten to install stud, A air gun or some type of impact tool will be very helpful. Check to see that stud has enough threds to pull stud all the way thru ,add more washers if nessecary dont let the nut run out of threds it will **** to get back off and wreck new stud.
6. if you dont have air gun or feel comfertable removing brakes bring it to a reputable garage, shouldnt cost more than $70+ parts to get all new studs put in on one wheel.

SOURCE: broken stud on left front wheel

Remove: wheel, brake caliper & rotor. Drive out the remaining stub with a hammer and punch. Insert a new stud and pull it into place by tightening the lug nut. Before running out of threads, remove the nut, insert a stack of washers or a large nut which slips over the threads without contacting them, tighten the lug nut to seat the stud.

SOURCE: broken stud on wheel

To replace a front wheel stud you need to remove the wheel, next remove the brake caliper. Next the brake rotor should slide off. You will need to get a punch and hammer and drive the old stud out then install new one by inserting it into the hub and using a large thick washer on the stud as a spacer thread a lug nut onto the stud and tighten to draw the stud into the hub. Reinstall brakes and wheel.

How to replace front lug stud nut on a 2006

jack up car ,remove front wheel ,brake caliper, and rotor, so now you have just studs and backing plate ,with a hammer and punch , drive out broken stud and go to your local parts store with broken part an and lug nut for that wheel, this is the hard part put new stud in hole that you punched the broken one out of and drive it in with a hammer or if you have a stud driver ,as far as it will go ,don't worry if you cant seat it all the way ,when you reassemble everything back on when you tighten lug nuts it will seat it the remander of the way ,BE SURE TO RETORQUE IT AFTER A SHORT DRIVR 20-30 MILES AND RE CHECK IT AT DIFFERNT INTERVlLES to make sure it's seated and tight. ok that's it in a nut shell ,hope this gets it done for you .good luck .

Need help to change front wheel stud on 1999 honda civic EX

1. first take the wheel off so you can see the the caliper and the rotor. make sure the car is on stands and not just waving around on a jack.
2. look behind the caliper and use your finger to locate, a pair of bolts behind the caliper... they will be holding the caliper into place on the suface of the rotor, by a simple look and feel you can see these, they should take a 17mm socket undo them and remove the bolts. at this stage you should see the the caliper become loose.
3. remove the caliper by pulling it up and away from the rotor
4. now you can see the rotor remove this it will simply slide away.
5. this will leave the hub exposed and the studs.. you will see that they are wedged into the hub
6. remove the stud/s by hitting them / it with a hammer be carful to not damage the other studs if you just replacing one.
7. there is one spot where the will be a gap and you will be able to get the stud in behind the hub and have a little bit of room, rotate the hub to there, make sure the car is out of gear or this will be very difficult :)
8 once the stud is in take something you can use as a spacer like a larger then the stud nut. for example and then put one of the wheel nuts on and tighten slightly
9. use a hammer and drive the back of the stud home, and slowly tighten the wheel nut as you go.
10. once this is done your finished put all the bits back togeather in the oppersite order and replace the wheel.

Broken, Missing Wheel Stud

this is a really simple fix remove the wheel, brake caliper, and rotor. if part of the old stud remains, punch it out with a hammer and punch (screwdriver will work if you have one you dont mind damaging). put the new stud in the hole and lightly tap into place (it wont fully seat untill you put the wheel back on and the lugnut pulls it all the way through) Some cars require you to pull the wheel assembly completely off. for this you will need a hub bolt socket (available in a set from autozone's lone a tool)

How do I replace broken wheel studs on the Front Right wheel hub?

The studs will plainly hammer out. Hit the threaded part till it will wobble. A hole on the back side of the hub will be there to pull the broken stud out. Replace it with a new one and use the lug nut to tighten in in. Stacking washers will help very much doing this process. If none are available have the wheel installed to get the studs in tight

2000 Dodge Caravan....broken wheel studs...

Yeah , it's a fairly simple repair, All the wheel studs must be replaced and lug nuts also.Closely examine the wheel or get competent tyre replacement company to double check for damage ! Remove the brake disc caliper and brake disc itself (usually 2 cross head screws) , tap off (gently) it may be stuck thru corrosion / rust etc , Broken studs can be knocked out(towards drive shaft ) of the hub assy with a suitable drift and hammer (splined into hub) . The studs are a servicable replacement part. Check all other wheel nuts as this is usually a result from poor fixing or wheel replacement recently .. Good luck
