If it started slipping in 4th then get a new car. The transmission is going out. 4th gear is connected to the clutch and you will need to replace the clutch and the transmission when it gets worse. It costs in upwards of 2,000 dollars to replace and or rebuild. Good Luck

WHen under load the motor revs up and it seems that the Clutch is slipping, it has 100000miles and I suspecting the clutch or the high / low range might be messed up, its a 4 plus 3 manuel transmission.

If it feels like the clutch is slipping, chances are it is. If there was a problem in any component that has internal gears, you would have grinding noises. Gears cannot slip. As the clutch wears more you may hear grinding when you try to change gears but that is because the clutch won't fully disengage so the gears are spinning too fast to shift properly. Before that happens, have the clutch replaced.

2nd gear slips going in and out of 2nd

If 2nd gear slips a lot, the clutch for that gear is probably worn out. A rebuild of the transmission is recommended.

1998 Dodge caravan AWD transmision slips at full throttle

Have you serviced the transmission latley? fluid, filter, band adjustment

Usually under heavy throttle causing the slip is caused by a seal in the pump leaking off hydraulic pressure letting the clutches slip.

Does it slip in all gears or just 1st.?
Does it slip in reverse?
The reason I ask this is because 1st and reverse use different fluid pathways,

also you can take it to a tranny shop and have them check the fluid pressure at the accumlator port to determine what the exact problem is,but my advice is to just drive it easy and make it last as long as you can,a new or rebuild tranny from a dealer would run 2500 or more.

there is a website www.car-part.com that you can use to find a replacement transmission

Slips when shifting gears

If the clutch slips, the clutch disc is worn out. The clutch hydraulic system only "disengages" the clutch.
