Question about 2005 Volkswagen Jetta
When I open the doors the dome lights in the front over the shifter will turn on but the dome light for the back seats will not and the lights under the visors will not work either can some one HELP
I take it that the bulbs have been checked. If so the rear light cluster switches can fail. The sun visors are normaly a broken wire in the sunvisor itself. I just relace the visor.

I'm assuming you have manual adjustment seats. There is a spring underneath the seat that locks the end of the lever into corresponding notches in the seat frame rail. That spring has either fallen off or broken.

its the cable from the handle to the seat mechanism that locks the seat in place. an easy fix with new cable from vw .i think its a dealer only part !

SOURCE: front seat springs
the spring is for height adjustment. all other functions will still work. the only fix is to replace the seat frame which is very expensive. you can actually still adjust the height but not while you are in the seat your weight will keep it from raising. Just remove the spring so it doesnt jam under the seat and everything else will continue working fine.

The problem is the seatbelt latch. The wiring right at the latch and the strap are broken. Seems there is not enough slack in these wires to allow much stretch. You may be able to repair it if you can splice these wires back together if not about 160 to 170 for a new one. you can have it put on a machine and if the code leads back to the latch then you know this is the problem.

For front seats. push them all the way to the front then got to the back and pop out the plastic covers on both sides of the tracks.
Then push the chair back and unscrew the nut under the seat in the middle on the end of the positioning guide you got to use an allen key. then you slide the chair all the way back and it will come out.
For the back seat use the same allen key and unscrew the 2 screws just below the front of the seats then lift the seat out. for the upper part just pull the two release knobs on each corner to drop it down. Then take a flat head screwdriver and push back the latch in the hinge of the seat at the side then it should pop out.
