Question about 2005 Jaguar X-Type
My 2005 X Type Wagon needs the fuel sending unit replaced. Can this be done from an interior access, without dropping the gas tank ?
Not familiar with jaguar but most cars it is accessible under the back seat

Fuel pump is accessed through a hole below the back seat. Remove the seat and there is a rubber round cover over each fuel pump. Fuel pumps are held in place with a large round retaining ring that is screwed off.

There is no inlet fuel line, unless you're talking about a fuel line return from the pressure regulator? Or are you talking about the big hose between the fill cap and the tank?
If you're talking about a bad fuel line,is it plastic or steel? don-ohio

Well for the 6 cyl engine there is only one inline filter. As with most all cars with in-tank pumps there is an additional filter or screen in the tank.
If you have zero fuel pressure at the rail, you would disconnect the inline filter and check for fuel pressure there.
The pump could have failed or may not be getting power.

It sounds like a problem with the fuel gauge sender unit in the fuel tank which has worn out and gone open circuit and needs replacing. Access to the unit is usually through a removable plate in the floor in the rear of the vehicle. Disconnect the wiring connector and any hoses and then remove the securing screws. Replacement is done by reversing procedure.
