Hazard lights won't work on My 2001 Montana

The hazards won't work. Can't tell if it's the switch or a relay. The switch on the column won't push in and lock. Is this because the switch is busted or because the circuit is not being completed?

Usualy if a switch does not set its because it could be bad.try checking power at the hazard fuse, using a test light or just pull fuse out and inspect.most fuses power more than one circuit is a car,you just may have problem with a bad switch.all else fails just check for power at switch connect,if power is good then its in the switch,if power is no good then look for open circuit or bad wire or ground to switch

2008 envoy Denali right turn signal and right hazard quit. replaced relay worked for 20 minutes of driving then right turn and right hazard quit again??? LEFT SIDE IS FINE

Sounds like you have a wiring issue ! Maybe when you installed the turn / hazard relay you moved the wiring harness in such away that made it work. Grab the wiring harness an do the wiggle test an see if it works . Mite have lose connection where the relay plugs in, close the terminals a little bit. I don't know what you know about electrical systems on automobiles or I'd tell you to do a voltage drop test to find the problem . Need volt ohm meter an a wiring diagram to do this test. I do not have any turn signals or hazard light on my 2000 ford focus zetec how do i correct this

There is a flasher unit that controls both the normal indicators and hazard flashers, on a 98 ford escort it is fixed to the base of the indicator stalk switch, if you remove the shroud that covers the switches around the top of the steering column you can see the flasher unit, usually it is black and just plugs in to the bottom of the hazard and indicator switch. The unit should have an ignition supply to it as well as a perm ant supply when the hazard switch is pushed down. Sometimes these switches get sticky contacts so if you bang the switch on and off a few times it can sometimes make the contacts work and then then all the indicators start working again.

Hazards work but turn signals don't

I'd check your multi-function switch (on your steering column, what you touch to turn your turn signals on). There is a small metal clip on the base of it that tells your car to turn the turn signals on (right or left). Also trace the wires from the mulit-function switch to your turn signal relay and see if you're getting power when the switch is activated.

My hazard lights work, on my 1999 expedition xlt, but my turn signal lights do not. Im not sure if I need to replace the flasher or the relay. If its the flasher, where is the flasher located and where...

This is a common problem for the turn signal switch itself. Try used. You will notice in the instructions to remove the steering wheel. Don't. The removal of the ignition switch is also not necessary. Remove the screws at the bottom of the column where it shows and take a screw driver and pry the other side up to see the 2 screws (torx, or star bits) to remove. This will only take about 20 minutes to perform.

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Remove the 4 retaining screws from the lower column shroud and remove the upper and lower shrouds.
  3. Remove the 2 retaining screws from the multi-function switch and unplug the 2 wiring connectors.
  4. Remove the switch.

To install:
  1. Install the multi-function switch.
  2. Tighten the 2 retaining screws and attach the 2 electrical connectors.
  3. Install the upper and lower column shrouds. Tighten the 4 retaining screws.
  4. Connect the negative battery cable.

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Remove the ignition key and tumbler as follows:
    1. Turn the ignition switch to the RUN position.
    2. Push the lock cylinder release pin with a suitable punch while pulling out the lock cylinder.

  3. If equipped, twist off the tilt wheel handle and remove.
  4. Remove 3 steering column shroud retaining screws and remove the upper and lower shrouds.
  5. Remove 2 self-tapping screws that retain the combination switch to the steering column casting. Disengage the switch from the casting.
  6. Detach the electrical connectors, being careful not to damage the locking tabs and the shift position indicator cable.

To install:
  1. Connect the combination switch electrical harness connectors ensuring that the connectors are fully engaged. The wiring for the switch is to be routed under the shift position indicator cable.
  2. Install the combination switch with 2 self-tapping screws. Tighten to 19-25 inch lbs. (2-3 Nm).
  3. Install the upper and lower steering column shrouds. Install the retaining screws and tighten to 9 inch lbs. (1 Nm).
  4. If equipped, install the tilt wheel handle ad tighten to 44 inch lbs. (5 Nm).
  5. Install the ignition key and tumbler assembly.
  6. Connect the negative battery cable.
  7. Check the steering column and combination switch for proper operation.

My hazard warning switch light has remained on with everything switched off. The hazards work ok when the switch is depressed. The car is an Audi A6 2.7 TDI Quatro 2006.

Either 1 of 2 things. Relay inside hazard switch goes bad often. If that is not it, then usually you would end up replacing the actual turnsignal column switch. But a new Hazard switch should do it.
