The reverse gear is fine but when you let go of the gear stick the reverse lights go out and light pressure put back on gear stick bits lights back in

Ok! This is the reverse light switch located under the gear stick gaiter! Could just need adjusting.....double nut locking system or is faulty/broken! The switch has a plunger that is activated by the movement of the gear stick to reverse!

04 focus gear stick wedges fron 1st to 2nd gear

Sounds like you have a bad shifter or a bad slave cylinder. Check the fluid in the reservoir and if you're losing some, then you need to see where the leak is coming from. If it's at the slave cylinder, you're in for an expensive repiar.

When u come out reverse the gear stick goes stiff, hard to go back into first gear. been advised might be a pin, found piece of plastic under gear stick cover round shaped.

Hi,
Fiats do not enjoy a sound reputation for their transmissions. If you are confident in your skills, remove the cover / boot that surrounds the gear stick. and check it carefully for fitting into the housing. There may be a plastic of fibre cup that the ball of the gear stick rides in. depending on the locating device for this "bearing" will affect the movement of the gear stick. If you can lift the gearstick and it shows lots of slop, then the 'bushing is no longer holding the gearstick in the correct neutral position which enables each gear, including reverse, to be selected easily. The reason for the 'bushing' failing will have to be ascertained, it may be a simple fix, or it may be lots of aggravation, depending if the parts are all present and can be salvaged.

Good luck.

Gear link or box problem

Sounds like a piece of linkage came loose. If it were an internal tranny problem, doubtful that the stick would be loose. Examine all linkage for something very obvious.

03 passat gaitor replacement

Hi, The knob does twist off and they can be on very tight the best way of doing this without breking the gear stick is to get mole grips or a good wrench and hold this tight onto the gearstick so as when you try turning the know you can then hold the gearstick steady.
You might need someone else to hold the mole grips or similar tool holding the gear stick so that you can undo the knob on top.

It does undo but can be tight best you get something holding the gear stick still so as not to damage the plastic cups on the bottom of the gear stick joining the linkage to the gear box as these would involve more work.
Try and get some one to hold gear stick secure whilst you undo the knob.
Hope this is some help tp you let me know if you need further assistance
