Question about 2004 GMC Envoy

1 Answer

I love my 2004 gmc envoy. It has been a good car except for the ac system. The ac does not blow cold air at all. It blows warm air but not cold. It also almost has no pressure. Lastly level 5 on the ac dial doesn't work, it's like you're turning the whole system off when I click over to level 5.

I would check the freon in the system. Their are kits avail. at parts shops such as Advance etc. Follow the directions and "viola" things will be cool.

You probably replace the wrong switch. I believe the high pressure switch is mounted in the back of the compressor. Pull the plug and jump it. If it works, replace the switch. I don't recommend you leave the jumper in the plug. If it the A/C pressure is to high, you could blow lines and such. Costing you a lot of money.

You may have two problems, a dirty throttle body and low AC refrigerant.

The throttle body needs to be cleaned, grime in this area prevents the throttle plate from closing completely and allowing air to enter, making the air/fuel mixture lean. Make sure to clean the front and back sides of the throttle body. Also, disconnect the battery during the cleaning process to allow the computer to reset and relearn to the cleaned throttle body.

The HVAC system needs to be checked by a HVAC technician. Just charging the system would be a temporary fix since there maybe a leak.

A/c blows warm air when idle, when vehicle accelerated blows cold air. what gives?

when a vehicle stops but is still running it produces a lot of heat, since you still feel some cold air from your ac ,it is working, however maybe not up to par or its just not as much as you would like. The reason it feels cooler when you are driving is the ability to get rid of the heat from the motor because the airflow pulls away the heat from the engine and helps the cooling system.

2004 Gmc Envoy XUV A/C problems

Hi, do you turn the AC as soon as you start the car? If this is the case yes if will blow hot until the AC kicks in. What the ac does is not put cold air in to the vehicle it removes the heat from the air, so it does take time for it to do this.A little trick for a bit quicker is to roll down a window these just helps. I read that once it starts getting cold it stays cold is this right? Once it stays cold have you notice that if you stop for just like running into the store and you start the car back up is it still cold or does the problem starts over? Hope this helps some please let me know.

Cheers
