the speed sensor is located generally on the tailshaft housing or in other words where the driveshaft slides into transmission has a small black sensor with a couple of wires going to it. those trucks have a bad problem with the cluster going out on them though. more than likely that is going to be your problem. you have to take cluster to dealership (new one) and they have to burn the current mileage into it.

the solenoids that control shifting are inside the transmission under the trans pan. ckt 1 and 2 refers to shift solenoids 1 and 2.

A faulty VSS (Vehicle Speed Sensor) or related wiring can cause both of your problems, trans and ABS. If the computer doesn't know the vehicle is moving, then it won't shift the trans. If the ABS controller sees wheel speed, but not vehicle speed, it will turn on the ABS light. The VSS is located in the rear transfer case housing. But remember, it may be the VSS, related wiring, a faulty speedo buffer (usually located in the dashboard), ECM, or even the reluctor on the transfer case output shaft. You may want to have a shop scan "data stream", or even have them diagnose the problem.

Testimonial: "That's amazing I was expecting some generic answer. I checked it and it is good. I think I'm going to have to bear down and take in to the shop."
