Question about 1995 Mitsubishi Galant

1 Answer

Hi, I have a 1995 Mitsubishi Galant automatic...it seems to only drive in high gear, like it is not shifting. When you put the car in drive it seems to start from a high gear and not change out. Was told that the park/neutral switch is bad, would this cause the car not to shift? (shifter is between the seats, and it will go into drive without the key) must be a bad p/n switch...but, if I put the money in a new one will the trans. start changing like it should? Thanks for your help! Wanda

Get your ECU (comp box) checked, it may be your speed sensor needs replacing, it's what tells your tranny too to shift....

I have a mitsubishi galant vr4 1995 made,...i have a problem with the automatic,..it doesnt shift stuck in 3rd gear,...supposed to be its an automatic,..so its start from 3rd gear,..the accelerate comes...

Your transmission has gone in to a limp home mode or fail safe mode, trans computer has locked third gear to prevent any more damage. Needs a diagnostic scan to confirm fault code could disconnect battery for 10 mins and drive to see if problem reaccures. Trans computer common to fail.

Don't know if you ever got this fixed, but my guess is it's a bad throttle position sensor.
