The amber SERVICE VEHICLE SOON indicator is an alert to the driver whenever there are specific current codes stored in the BCM or in the event of a loss of Class 2 serial data.

If your vehicle has a check engine light ,it doesn't have service engine soon .One or the other .

An oil change will not set the check engine light. You need to have a scanner hooked up to your vehicle to see why the check engine light is on.

Any code's stored ? Or didn't you check ? Check engine light on code or code's stored . After replacing or disconnecting a battery in a ford vehicle will store a P1000 code. This isn't a problem just means the vehicle lost power, this doesn't normally turn on the check engine light. Run by a auto part's an have them check code's . If none are shown they can turn off the light . Do you have autozone , advance auto parts near you ?

What code is it throwing ? Some codes are what are called two trip codes ! You clear the codes an start an drive the vehicle ,no check engine light . Park the vehicle over night an bam next time you start an drive the vehicle the check engine light comes back on .

DRIVE CYCLE. If a test is failed on a second

consecutive DRIVE CYCLE the MIL will light and a

DTC is stored in the vehicles powertrain control
module (PCM).

have code checked for check engine -the service light and the check engine may be a coincidence but the service are just reminders and the check engine is a problem that the vehicle onboard diagnostics computer found and is letting you know about so most auto stores can scan your vehicle for free and the code will be your start point towards repairing or solving your problem

Check engine light comes on and off, these are indication that there is some error code stored in your vehicles ECM. The engine module computer needs to be scanned. These will give the code and as per the error code the further problem can be detected and confirmed. The engine light indicator blinks or remains steady on dash when engine computer noticed any problem with any engine electrically operated components.

Does the light ever come on while you are driving the vehicle? It is possible that the vehicle does not trigger the code on the key cycle when vehicle is connected to the OBDII scan tool (a cycle is the time from when a vehicle is started to the time the vehicle is turned off) you should however most of the time be able to check a vehicles trouble code history to see what may be turning the light on

Hi!! The Engine Malfunction Indicator Light (MIL) or Check Engine Light, is the visual signal the computer turns on when there is a problem with the Engine Performance. The Check Engine Light comes ON when there is a problem with the Emissions, Fuel, Evap., ABS systems among other things. The codes can be retrieved using an OBDII scanner if your vehicle was made after 1996.
If your Check Engine Light is ON, you can take your vehicle to AutoZone, Checkers or similar Auto Parts store to get the PCM or Vehicle Computer scanned for trouble codes. This is a FREE service they provide to all of their customers.

When the CHECK ENGINE light turn ON, one sensor in your vehicle is advise about an code fault. i suggest scanning for know what code is in there and solve it.
